Hello everybody and welcome back to another Good Morning Mondays. Say goodbye to last week and hello to this week, again it has gone by very quickly.
We have had a good week with quite coolish weather, which is conducive to work but not to tomato growing. We have just been discussing the fact that we live in a cooler climate and we are going to put up a permanent hothouse next year to grow our tomatoes in and then we won’t have to whinge about the cooler weather. Sorry about that.
We have had a very social week this week with our No 2 daughter having a friend to play during the week. They had a great time and her friend just loves coming out to the farm and running around.
No 1 son needed some new clothes so we headed to a larger town near the coast and kitted him out. We enjoyed fish and chips in the car overlooking the beach (it was too cold to get out – sorry again) and a play in the playground (sheltered from the wind). We had a great day together, which is rare with No 1 son working nearly full time shearing.
We are not big on peer socialization and that is one of the numerous reasons why we homeschool. My husband says we aren’t a mono culture, we want our children to learn to socialize with all ages. Saying this they do enjoy getting together with children their own age and having a play.
It’s great to get together with like minded friends and chat about the way we do things and the way they do things, it can be quite challenging and makes us think and analyze why we do things.
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
In the late 1800’s there was an operational trading post come hotel on the corner of our property, it was called the Junction Hotel. We had friends come out on Saturday for lunch and the husband went over the site with his metal detector. He didn’t find any gold or anything just some foundations. He had fun and we enjoyed having a meal together and chatting.
Well that’s our week. Tomorrow we are going to a turkey farm to see how they process the birds and discuss the legalities and politics of the operation. We are doing this with a friend who is interested in this type of thing. For us it is also a field trip for the children, part of our schooling.
Enough of me and on to our link up. We had 88 link ups and I am feeling so blessed that you all stop by and share your heart with us all. I am enjoying reading all your posts and I am learning heaps too.
Our top post by a country mile was:
Why we banned Frozen by Alli at AwedBody
Our family stands with Alli and her opinion on this movie. I know she has gotten heaps of positive comments but also some very negative ones. I just ask that you read her post with an open mind and heart and ask the Lord to lead you with your comments.
Our next two top posts were:
A Thrifty Week at Havest Lane by Laura at Harvest Lane Cottage
Frugal Fashion Friday by Diary of a Prairie Girl
10 Things Homeschooled Children Don’t Miss by the Farmer’s Wife at Growing in His Grace.
If you haven’t had the chance to have a look at these posts they are linked up for you so just click on the picture.
Thank you ladies for these wonderful posts and also to everyone else. I enjoyed them all and think they are all wonderful, it is hard to pick a favourite.
Before we link up I found a few posts that were talking about trusting God, so I want to share this scripture –
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
This is my favourite scripture and it helps me in times of fear and uncertainty, so I am just wanting to encourage myself and everyone else to try and remember this scripture when fear overtakes us.
May you all be blessed this week as you work, play and love your family.
Ok let’s get the link up started, please link up any posts that relate to God and christian living – especially encouraging or challenging posts, also recipes, crafts, gardening or homesteading as you call it in America and just plain old country living here in Australia.
Thank you for another wonderful link up party… I sure appreciate all of the work you do to host these parties. 🙂 I hope you have a great week!
Thank you so much Joy for your kind comment. I love hosting and reading everything, sometimes it is heartbreaking and I have a good cry, but that’s ok. I feel so close to all of you and what we are all going through together. Blessings and have a great week too.
I always look forward to looking into your world each week! Each Sunday as we finish up our evening bible studies, the husband lays ALL the kids down just so I can head over here for half an hour or more before he heads up, checks out all the tractors & equipment in your pictures (typical diesel mechanic). Then we can start our couples bible study. It’s the new norm 🙂 . I felt an instant friendship the first time I came.
We are having “cool” weather here too. (I laughed harder than I should when I wrote that.)
I feel like that’s the better way to socialize children. They learn how to socialize appropriately.
There are only two Christians families in the nearest town, and one moved away this week, so it’s been a lot of tears around here. Praying for a revival in this neck of the woods.
Blessings,
Oh thank you so much, some people say that internet friends aren’t true friends but I feel such a bond with you and some of the others who link up. We are all so like minded and I just don’t get that around here too often. Like I said we have a couple of families around us but we don’t get together heaps. I’m sorry that one of your Christian families moved away, that is so hard, may God bless you with more.
I feel that I have been whinging about the cooler weather and then when it is hot I whinge about the hot weather, I don’t really mean it, but I do want our tomatoes to grow :-). Your cool weather is probably 10 feet of snow???? Lots of love…
Terri, I love reading your posts because you’re in a different part of the world! I was just reading a novel written by a British woman and she used that word, “whinge.” I’m not sure how to pronounce that, but does it mean the same thing as our American word, “whine?”
Thanks Mary for your comment and for stopping by. Yes whinge means the same thing as whine and is pronounced the same way, neither is a good character trait to have :-). I sometimes forget that we have different saying and such. Blessings to you and yours.
Thank you so much for the feature and another great link up party! It has been a very interesting week with the comments. I’m thankful to you for the opportunity to have those conversations!
My husband and I totally agree with the kids needing to socialize with all ages. It’s such a very important part of becoming a person! I’m so encouraged by your posts. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much Alli for your lovely and encouraging comment. I am impressed with your attitude and how you answered some of the more antagonistic comments, just seeing this has spoken to my heart about how I answer people. You are such a blessing.
Hello cute lady! Thank you for hosting such a fabulous party. Please take a moment to stop by our party that starts tonight at 7 pm. We would love to have one of your amazing posts at the party. Happy Monday! Lou Lou Girls
Thanks so much for featuring my post!

My pleasure Laura, thanks for linking up. Blessings to you too. xxxx
Love Proverbs 3:5-6, too! I wrote on that verse this week – love how God can place a verse on your heart and then you see it everywhere.
Exactly Kathryn, thanks for stopping by and commenting. Blessings.
It was interesting to hear about your week and especially about how chilly it gets where you live. Thanks for the linkup today 🙂 and have another wonderful week. God bless you!!
Thanks so much Judith, hope you have a great week too. Blessings
It’s COLD here! It was 4 degrees this morning. Glad you are warmer.
