GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #158

 WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hey there my friends, how are you all going? I’m watching some of you on Instagram and I’m slightly envious of all the snow, though I’m sure that it would get tedious and you are craving spring like we are craving Autumn.

Actually our weather is feeling very much like Autumn, cool nights and mornings and lovely sunny days. We have a warm week coming up this week which will hopefully help the tomatoes ripen. They are coming along nicely at the moment and there are heaps of green ones just waiting to turn red. Each season we try and get ripe tomatoes by Christmas and each season we fail, but we’ll keep trying and we’ve already got ideas for the coming spring planting.

The capsicums are growing well too and I’ve been picking heaps of long skinny ones and I’ve even managed to dry a few. The bigger “normal” ones are green and are looking really good. After I finish writing this I’m going to go and plant some broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, rocket and lettuce seedlings. I’m excited for the winter garden as well and what that’ll look like. Over summer we mainly eat salads so a good feed of vegetables like cauliflower will be very welcome once the months cool off a bit more.

I am so blessed to have the raised beds and thankful to my amazing husband for building them for me. At the moment he is laying out big squares of hay for our next spring garden. We have been given some old hay and he is laying it out end to end to make long garden beds which once spring comes we’ll plant straight into.

It was Valentines Day this last Wednesday and we don’t normally get too excited over it, a happy Valentine’s Day dear and a kiss is about it, but this year I invited my darling to dinner on our front veranda.   I sent him an invitation in his lunchbox and we enjoyed a lovely meal of steak with scalloped potatoes and salad. We even opened a bottle of wine that had been in the cupboard and enjoyed a lovely apple crumble for dessert. It was nice to sit together and talk our day through and enjoy each other’s company.

We also did school this week and I visited a friend and her baby at the hospital and did some mending and had the usual piano lessons and the children’s bible class.  Life has returned to the normal yearly busy with lots happening.

My husband is starting the Fathers Course he runs this coming week and our book club is starting this Thursday afternoon. Both of us are excited to see how these groups go this year.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up, it’s so great to see you back after our break over January.

This week is a busy one, but all good all the same.  We have my husband’s course starting and singing lessons. My husband and I are going to a food forum to learn more about growing vegetables and the like. Our book club starts and the children have their bible class as well. So it’s full on and I think I’m only home one whole day this week. The next week won’t be like that which is good.

My friend and I have started reading “A Wife After God’s Own Heart” and we will also be reading Titus and other wifely scriptures to go with it. She’s been pretty busy with her new baby (who is very cute) so hopefully over the coming month we can start getting together again.

The children are excited because they get to spend the day with their good friends this week while my husband and I are at the Food Forum. They are so blessed to have a good group of friends who accept them and love the Lord.

This post comes to you hoping that you are well.  Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #157

 WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Welcome back everyone to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

We’ve had a good week this week and we’re getting back into our routine again for the school year. We have heaps on this term so we’re busy trying to work out when to fit it all in.

We had a trip to Mt Gambier earlier this week to pick up another 100 day old laying hens.   We were blessed this time to get 50 Australorp crosses and the usual 50 White Leghorn crosses. We have been trying to get black ones for ages but they seem to be popular because this is the first time it’s happened. We are now interested to see how they perform compared with the white ones.At present they are in the brooder and in a couple weeks they will go out on the lawn and then, before winter they will be out free-ranging around the house, that’s when they really enjoy themselves.

While we were in Mt Gambier the children had a chance to look at a sink hole and enjoy some time in a lovely green park with beautiful trees. It’s only when you take pictures that you realise how quickly they are both growing up.We’ve got a couple of kittens at the moment and they are so cute together. They have no respect of personal space so if we are out having a coffee they are usually crawling all over us or trying to drink the froth off the top of the mugs. They’ll hopefully be good mousers, which is always a blessing on the farm.I was so excited this week to get our books for our book group at church that is starting in a couple of weeks. I’m not sure how many ladies are joining but at the moment it looks like about 8 and there are ladies that work and can’t join us but would like a book.Ever since I saw War Room and started reading this book I’ve had a heart to share it with others. Prayer is integral to our Christian walk and prayer in regards to spiritual warfare is the same. We need to recognise who the enemy is and not let him take hold in our lives.

I’m also looking forward to the accountability of my sisters in Christ to keep us on the right track as we pray for our family and friends.

The warmer weather has been integral in getting our vegetables growing and our zucchinis are producing really well. I was given some from a friend as well and missed a couple in the garden so I managed to get these bigger ones dried this week.I really enjoy my dehydrator and I’ve got garlic lined up for this week but I’m waiting for a cooler day for that. I might even run the machine outside so the whole house doesn’t smell like garlic.

My amazing husband has been busy with our no 2 son carting big squares of hay from one of the neighbours. We are laying this out in the vegetable patch so that we can plant into them in the spring. The hay needs the time to break down so that it’s suitable to plant in. This hay is old hay and is not suitable for stock feed any more, but it’s perfect for what we want.

So that was our week, along with all the usual piano and singing lessons, bible studies and church. Our pastor and his family have been on holidays and it’s nice to have them back again and to get back into the routine of the new year.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up, it’s been lovely to have you here.

I’m looking forward to this coming week as we are home most of the time. I’m wanting to get into our school work and music practice because the following week is pretty busy.

The friend I meet for our bible study has been away for a couple of weeks and I’m hoping to get together with her this coming week and have a good chat and our study, but that’s still to be finalised.

I’ll hopefully be busy with the produce from the garden, getting it stored up for the winter and I want to prepare for our first book group and get myself organised for that too.

So that’s our coming week for you and I look forward to hearing about how you are all going.

This post comes to you hoping that you are well.  Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #156

 WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Welcome back to you all, to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up. I apologise to you all for not getting back last week. The internet here at the end of the month is terribly slow so I decided to hold off until this week.

January is over and we’re already heading through February, where are the days going.

We had an extended Christmas celebration with friends on Christmas Day and then family on Boxing Day.  Suffice to say it was good fun and fellowship with water balloons, water pistols and food. My amazing BBQ’ing husband did a fair bit of this last month and will probably do a bit more before the summer is out.

The vegetable garden is going great, although I would have liked to have more volume of vegetables actually planted but I have learnt a lot.  I’m already looking forward to next spring where I can put into action all the new ideas I’ve got.

The zucchinis are now coming off in abundance and we are enjoying them fresh and I’ll be drying some as the month goes on.We had a wonderful day out in early January 4WD’ing with our children. We ventured down to the Otways where we saw what’s left of the 12 Apostles and London Bridge. Here’s some of us at London’s Bridge, it was really windy and cold which I didn’t mind but the others thought it was a bit much for summer. Our weather here can be so changeable but that’s the beauty of it for me, it’s never hot for too long and we can get a lovely sea breeze overnight to cool things off.We met up with this other cool bunch for lunch and it was great to see them again and then we enjoyed an afternoon of 4WD’ing that was good fun and challenging at the same time. The chickens are now over 2 months old and they are going great. They love leaving deposits on our front veranda which is a pain but my husband has now moved them out the front so hopefully they won’t do that again.

Our no 1 son bought me a lovely table and chairs for our front veranda and my husband and I have enjoyed many a breakfast out there but the chickens have stopped that for the time being.  I’ve just sent out our no 2 son out to give it all a scrub down so that we can enjoy the area again. I’m so blessed by our children and their willingness to help out around the place.

My husband has been growing potatoes and they are at harvest stage. They are delicious and roast up really well. We are going to leave them in the ground until we need them and will start selling them on our front stall in the next few weeks.

We are so blessed by how God is growing our garden and the raised beds are so good to work with too.

Well I could go on and on about what we’ve been up to but that gives you a small overview and I’m looking forward to hearing how you have been going.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up, you have definitely blessed me by doing so.

Well with the near year begun so has school and music lessons. We are trying to find a routine at the moment and we’ll get there hopefully this week once all the other programs get started. We have already started piano lessons and singing starts this week.

We are starting a book club this month at our church and I’m excited about facilitating that and developing new and deeper relationships.

This post comes to you hoping that you are well.  Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!
