 WELCOME BACK

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there all! and welcome back to our weekly link up. How have you all been?

Another week gone and another week closer to Christmas, it feels hectic but I’m not sure why??

It’s been warm here this week so the children and I got out in the mornings after breakfast to work in the garden and got nearly the first raised bed weeded and mulched and planted out. Then later in the week it was hot and humid and we had thunderstorms and heaps of rain which for us is such a blessing (but not for the farmers trying to bale hay).

We’ve still got another bed to get mulched and planted but we’re hoping to get it done this week. My husband brought over the hay so it’ll just take a bit of leveling and then spreading the hay out. The good thing with the big squares is that you can take slices off and lay them on the beds.

Our no 2 son was blessed to go with his dad on a job on Monday afternoon and that is always fun.  They were up the bush and on the way home there were heaps of blue tongue lizards around and crossing the road and they stopped and he caught one.

We have now officially finished farrowing – that is all our sows have had their piglets. We are so blessed by God’s provision and the health of the little piggies. Below is a picture of the Saddlebacks, they are different to the other ones with being solid in colour with the white strip. Actually some of them are plain black, but that’s fine for us.I met with my friend on Wednesday lunch time and we had a lovely afternoon in the park having a picnic lunch and then doing our Bible study together. The children had a great time too, it was very warm but there was a nice breeze which kept it pleasant. We are learning heaps too going through Mark together and are growing closer together as friends and learning about each other as well.

Our son-in-law, daughter and their children came down for a night to help our no 1 son work on his vehicle. It was great to have them and as it was our son-in-law’s birthday we did have a bit of a feast to celebrate. We had roast lamb and goat, potatoes and salad and a peach trifle and an amazing cream sponge cake made by our no 1 daughter. Suffice to say we didn’t go hungry.

Our no 1 son and his oldest niece enjoying a cuddle before dessert.

Here’s our 2nd granddaughter with the beautiful and yummy sponge her mum made for her dad’s birthday. Sunday we had church and then we had a BBQ lunch in our local botanical gardens for a church friends 30th birthday. It was a lovely time of fellowship and enjoyed by all.

I apologise that we are having internet issues again so I can’t do a top three but we’ll be back next week.

This coming week we want to get more veggie gardening done, we want to make some Christmas cards and finish up some school work. We’ve got piano practice to do and our usual Bible Study on Tuesday night.

We’ve been doing a study on the Reformers and we’ve done Luther and Calvin and this week we’re up to Tyndale . It’s been very interesting.

We’ve got pottery lessons on Thursday night and this is our second last one so we are busy finishing off and making terracotta items as they don’t need double firing.

Children have their Bible class and singing lessons on Friday and I’m hoping to get together with my friend as well to do our Bible study.

It’s also our no 1 daughter and my husbands birthday this week so we’ll be having a special meal one night for that.

So that’s our week for you and I look forward to hearing about how you are all going.

This post comes to you hoping that you are well.  Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there all! and welcome back to our weekly link up. How have you all been?

It’s been a busy week for us but we have achieved a heap. We had to get the potatoes in the ground because a) they needed to get in and b) we needed the trailer. So Monday was spent cutting and planting 400 kgs of potatoes with the job being finished off on Wednesday. My husband did a great job and with the help of our younger two children he planted, fertilized and mounded the patch before we had heavy rain.

Rows of potatoes

There is now water lying in the furrows between the rows but that is such a blessing and will definitely give them a good start.

Two of the sows we were waiting on to deliver us piglets did that as well this week, with one delivering Monday morning and one Tuesday morning. We now have over 20 piglets with more due shortly from another 2 sows.We had our ladies mission group Christmas luncheon on Wednesday and after that I met with my friend to continue our study of Mark. We are really enjoying this and after we study we are getting to know each other so much better.

We had our usual pottery lesson on Thursday night, but I can’t show you any pics because I’m moving into Christmas present time. We’ve only got a couple of classes left but I think that will be enough time to get everything finished.

Friday my husband and the children were busy planting tomatoes and they got 125 in the ground with another 125 going in on Saturday. We had a couple of big thunderstorms this week and heaps of rain so the ground is nice and damp again and the air is very muggy due to the warmth.

Friday afternoon the children had their usual Bible class and my husband went to pick up 100 day old chickens to add to the mix of farm life. These are our usual White Leghorn x New Hampshire chickens that will (in about 16) weeks start laying beautiful big eggs. Most of these will be for sale and this is our no 2 daughter’s business venture.
They are cute and fluffy now but they’ll grow up pretty quick.

Saturday was a busy veggie gardening day and on Saturday night our children were involved in playing background music for a YWAM dessert evening. It was a great night with funds being raised to purchase medical equipment for PNG, and it was good practice for the children too.

Sunday afternoon was our usual rest time so that we sort of catch up for the coming week, that doesn’t always happen but we try. My husband loves to get outside as that’s what he finds relaxing, me… I like my feet up 🙂 .

Okay, onto our link up…

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up, you are such a blessing.

This coming week is somewhat quieter with the gardening stuff anyway. My husband will be off farm working this week to catch up on some jobs and I’ll be getting back into routine with school and music.

We have our usual Bible study on Tuesday night and we are studying the Reformers. It’s definitely interesting and we did Martin Luther last week.  Wednesday I meeting with my friend to do our Bible study and I think we’ll go to the park and have lunch as well. Then I’m home until our Bible class on Friday, there’s no pottery this week due the teacher being away.

We have a few birthdays over the next couple of weeks so I’m sure at some stage we will be getting together with our daughter and her family shortly.

We’re being challenged at the moment on forgiveness and handling things the way God wants us too. It’s so challenging to deal with hurtful words and misconceptions against you, but only God knows the truth and we answer to Him. Forgiveness is key to our Spiritual health and well being, don’t believe anyone who says it’s not important and there are plenty of scriptures to support that theory.

We are looking forward to Christmas and all the joy and love and getting together with family and friends that all entails. We are almost in planning mode and I look forward to getting it all sorted with our no 2 daughter and no 2 son over the coming weeks.

This post comes to you hoping that you are well.  Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #149

 WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there all! and welcome back to our weekly link up. How have you all been?

Well this past week started out much quieter than last week and it’s definitely a nice feeling to have the freezers full for the coming summer months.

We did some school this week and our usual piano practice, but we didn’t have singing lessons due to a public holiday. So I didn’t go to town until Thursday afternoon and from then on it was a bit busy.

My husband needed to help his mum out with some doctors stuff so I took the time to meet up with my friend to start our bible reading together. We met at the park so that our children could play with her young son on the swings and in the sand. It was a nice warm day with a delightful breeze so it was very pleasant. My friend brought a heap of snacks so no one went hungry.

We’ve now learnt to do our study first and then talk later because we didn’t quite get all the questions answered before my husband returned (and he was a couple of hours). We’ll answer them ourselves during the week and prepare ourselves for next weeks reading and questions before we get together this coming week. It was still good though and we chatted about other “God” stuff so it was an encouraging time.

Thursday evening we had pottery class again and it was nice to get back to it after a couple of weeks off due to our butchery work. We started the evening glazing our finished pots and our daughter did this one below. I think she did a great job.
I finally glazed my butter dish and I did it in white with a speckled glaze over it and I did my jug the same way. I’m looking forward to seeing how they turn out. I also glazed and made another bowl and these will be big enough for a small salad. My honey pot is finished and I’m just waiting to see how it dries this week. It turned out pretty big and I’ll show you when I’ve finished it – coloured and all.We only have about 4 lessons left until the end of the year so this coming week is our last one to make, the rest of the weeks will be glazing and finishing up. It’s been good fun and our no 2 daughter and I have enjoyed this time together learning a new skill.

Friday was a busy day also as we had a Homeschooling forum in Warrnambool. We managed to get a bit of necessary shopping in before it started and then came straight back to Hamilton afterwards for the children’s Bible class.

The weather has definitely started to feel very summery and it’s time to get some seedlings planted. I sowed a heap of zucchini and cucumber seeds in jiffy pots so that when my garden bed is ready I will plant them straight into the straw. The only problem is that the magpies are pulling the pots out of the trays, but we will carry on and I’ll finish doing some more this coming week.
The broad beans have been producing well and we enjoyed them sauteed in butter for tea the other night. there is another lot to pick and we’ll enjoy them later next week when the weather cools a little  bit or I might find a salad recipe for them.
The weekend was our usual piano lessons and then we came home and my husband got us started on planting our potatoes. Next we need to plant our tomatoes which our no 1 daughter grew for us and then it’s the acacias in the orchard. Our trouble here is we are so wet for so long and we can’t get onto the ground to get it ready before we need to plant, so it’s full on when we finally dry up enough.

Okay enough about us onto our link up…

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up and sharing your hearts with us.

Okay this week is almost back to normal – ha ha – whatever that is. We’ve got our regular Bible study on Tuesday night and we’ve got our ladies group’s final meeting for the year on Wednesday and we’re having a bit of a Christmas lunch and I’ll meet with my friend after that for our Bible reading.

There’s pottery on Thursday night and Bible class for the children on Friday, piano lessons on Saturday and farm work after that. In between we’ll do school and my husband will work. They say this time of the year is the crazy busy season and I think they may be right, the good thing is we are doing it and being crazy together.

That is a definite blessing.

This post comes to you hoping that you are well.  Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #148

 WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there all! and welcome back to our weekly link up. How have you all been?

We had a very good, tiring and productive week again and at this moment I just want to go and sit on the couch.

With the help of our son-in-law and no 1 daughter we finally finished our butchery session and the freezers are full, we did 80 kg of sausages and have heaps of mince and roasts and lamb chops and even some goat, which we’re excited to try.

My amazing husband boning out the quarter of beef so that we could make rolls.

My husband is getting an expert at boning meat and he made these amazing rolls out of the quarter of beef above. Our no 1 son was busy makings sausages and I was busy twisting them. Earlier in the week my husband had to go to town to pick up parts so he took me and our no 2 son out for breakfast. This was so nice as it’s been so busy the last few weeks and it was nice to sit back and enjoy our time together. Our no 2 daughter had been visiting our no 1 daughter and her family for a few days and she was enjoying herself as well.

We had our usual stuff on this past week, singing lessons and bible study on Tuesday night. Sunday we had a fellowship luncheon at church as well which is always a good time of getting to know one another.

Our 4 week study called One to One finished on Tuesday night and I think next week we are starting a Reformation Study which sounds very interesting and we are looking forward to that. I now have a friend that I am going to meet weekly to study the book of Mark and I’m excited about that as well. We will start this week and the study takes 8 weeks and then we’ll reassess what we are going to do. We may keep meeting together or we may branch out and meet with someone else, either way this is a good starting point.

And because I can here is a picture of our beautiful youngest granddaughter. She is about 5 months old and is so cute and full of smiles. It was so nice to spend time together over the last couple of days.

Okay that’s enough about our week, onto our link up…

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up, I hope you enjoyed your visit.

This coming week is hopefully a quieter one and I want to get the children and myself back into a better routine. We’ve got a couple things on this week at night with Bible study and pottery classes again. I haven’t been at pottery for a couple of weeks so it’ll be nice to get back and finish some things up before the end of the year.

My friend and I want to start meeting up this week to read Mark so hopefully we can co-ordinate ourselves.

This post comes to you hoping that you are well.  Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!
