GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #135

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hey there all, how have you been??? Our internet is still playing up but I managed to get in and get the link up sorted while it was going okay. So I’m glad to say that we are back…

We’ve had a good week and it has been full of piano practice and school work which has been good. Our no 2 son’s reading is really improving and our no 2 daughter’s math is starting to make sense. It’s great when you see your children “get” something, it is such a joy.

We are only milking one cow at the moment but she is still giving us plenty of cream when we separate so I was able to get some more butter in the freezer this week. I am going to keep going with making it so that I have heaps in reserve to share and for when the cow dries off.Last weekend we got all our onions in and some more veg and it is looking very productive. My husband got some more seedlings on Saturday so I’ll put them in this coming week.  The weather was very windy and wet here on the weekend so everything in the garden had to hang on tight. We had our usual bible study on Tuesday night and we are still working through Hebrews. This week we discussed what it was like for the people once they came to Christ and how they were treated and how their lives changed. Very interesting.

Friday we attended our second pottery class and we both got the chance to play on the wheel. It was very good fun although it was quite difficult. I managed to get one bowl looking reasonable and will get another chance next week. Next week, when the bowls have hardened we will clean up the bottom edge and then they will be fired. After the first firing they will then be glazed and then fired again. I’m excited to actually see something finished, but the teacher needs to wait until she has enough to go in the kiln.

We also worked with terracotta and made slab pots. Terracotta is a firmer clay and works well this way and also for bigger items on the wheel.

Saturday was our usual town day and then we had some friends from church out for tea. It was a great night and we all had fun together.

Sunday was church and then the children had an extra piano lesson just to consolidate some of their work. They are doing really well and there is only a week left until their exams. They are both looking forward to having them completed and moving onto something new.

Okay that’s all our news for this week.

Because our internet was down we didn’t have a link up last week so not top three, but that’ll be back next week.

This week is once again school and piano practice, the usual bible study on Tuesday night and pottery on Friday.

I want to fit in some vegetable gardening and maybe some mending as well, oh yes and some book work.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you all have to link up this week and also hearing what you have been doing.

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #134

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there everyone, it’s good to see you here again this week. I’m looking forward to seeing what you have to link up this week and also hearing how you are going.

I’ve actually had a busy week and it has been great. The first part of the week was at home and quiet with the children doing their school and piano practice.

On Tuesday night we joined a bible study group from church and it was good to go over the scriptures that our pastor preached from the week before. We are still on Hebrews and it has been fascinating. I always found it hard to understand Hebrews but now it is making a whole lot more sense.

On Wednesday and Thursday we had the privilege to look after our three oldest grandchildren. We had a good time together and as usual I took heaps of photos.

They all had a great time with their aunt and uncle and especially their grandpa. He’s a tickling grandpa and one in particular loves being tickled and the other ones just like to watch.Grandpa is also becoming a favourite story teller and whenever he sat in his chair he had three extras with him.

Our no 1 daughter and their youngest.

Our youngest granddaughter is now 2 months old and she is definitely a cutie. I finished a beanie for her and her brother and I completed the two cardigans I was making too. The cardigans are a good fit but the hat is a little big, but she’ll grow into it. On Friday our no 2 daughter and myself started pottery classes in town. It runs for the school term, so about 10 weeks and this week we did hand work making pots. Next week we may get to try our hand at the pottery wheel so that should be fun, or not!!The weekend was the usual, music lessons and gardening. We managed to get our onions planted and some more garlic, cabbages and lettuces. The garden is coming along really well at the moment.

Okay that was our week, how was yours??

There will be no top three this week as our internet is really, really slow at the moment, so I apologise.

THERE WILL ALSO BE NO LINK UP THIS WEEK

AGAIN I APOLOGISE AND HOPEFULLY OUR INTERNET WILL BE RIGHT BY NEXT WEEK.

This coming week is a bit quieter. The children’s piano exams are in two weeks so that is our focus. Scales, pieces and technical work.

We have our bible study on Tuesday night and then pottery again on Friday and music lessons on Saturday. Just the usual.

We are still working through Hebrews at church and as I said before it’s really helping us understand it. There have been lots of questions raised and it is a great learning point.

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #133

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hello all, how are you going??

It’s been a cold week here and we even had some rain which has made the ground nice and wet and boggy.

My husband has been working really hard so he took Tuesday off and we went to town and had breakfast and did some op-shopping. The children really love it when he comes with us and he usually finds them something they like.

He’s been busy trying to get some hay for the new vegetable garden and he managed to get in 5 trailer loads which equaled 10 big squares. Here’s the hay laid out in rows which will he will run a bed former over, once it’s settled down a bit. All our big crops eg: tomatoes, corn, etc will be planted in these beds this coming spring. He wants to do another 5 loads and even more. There is a lot of hay around that is no good for stock feed so we are really blessed to be able to use it in the garden.

Some of the pigs have been busy digging up last year’s vegetable garden area and they are doing a fantastic job, and the little piglets are so cute.As I said it has been so cold this week and with my husband home for lunch one day I made some chicken soup from one of the roosters we butchered last weekend. The flavour was really lovely and I made some cheesy scrolls to go with it.
I found some great books from Answers in Genesis for our no 2 son. He got one on dinosaurs and one on geology. He was so excited when they arrived and it’s so nice to know that he is reading the truth about all these things and not the world’s million of years theology.Saturday we did some gardening and sorting some pigs out and then in the afternoon we had a lady who knows heaps about orchards and permaculture stop in to see how everything was going. You are never too old to learn. Our no 2 daughter has gotten quite keen on grafting and the fruit tree side of our operation so she was all ears during her visit.

Sunday was church and a rest in the afternoon, to be ready for the new week.

Okay, onto our link up…

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who stopped by and linked up. I hope you enjoyed your visit.

I have a prayer request: Please pray for our friends little boy Jotham. I have mentioned him before, requesting prayer and he is still having some health issues. At the moment he is in hospital with Pneumonia and he has also been struggling with Infantile Spasms. Please pray for the doctors to have wisdom and for the spasms to stop and for his health to be restored.  Please also pray for his parents and brothers and sister that they may be at peace with all that is happening. Thank you all.

This coming week is much the same as the last :-), school, music and work. At the moment we are babysitting three of our grandchildren later in the week for a couple of nights, so that should be fun.

I’ve finished knitting a couple little cardigans for our newest granddaughter and now I’m onto a little hat. I’ll post pics next week when it has been gifted. Then I might start on a vest for our no 2 son as I have some spare wool that would be nice used that way.

What have you been up to? What is your weather like?

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #132

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi all, how have you been and what’s been happening in your lives this week???

I had another one of those quiet at home weeks where it’s hard to remember what happens from day to day.

My husband has been really busy with work which is such a blessing but makes him tired at the end of the day. We look forward to Saturdays when there is no music lessons and we can sleep in a little bit before getting the day started.

We did go to town one day to do some banking and groceries and the children and I enjoyed lunch at one of our local bakeries. The cakes and slices on display are always very tempting. I’m not usually a sweets person but I couldn’t resist this delicious looking Rainbow Cake, and it was definitely worth it.I managed to get some more seedlings into our nft system on the aquaponics. I’ve filled all the holes now and we are going to do some more pipes in the coming weeks. This time I planted rocket, spinach and tatsoi and I’m looking forward to harvesting the rocket and spinach. I haven’t grown rocket before and I really enjoy the taste in salads so it’ll be nice to have our own.

The raised beds are doing great as well and the broad beans are going great guns and look really healthy. It’s been extremely dry and cold here lately but that seems to be doing them good.

On Saturday we butchered 5 rooster and 3 ducks. The ducks belong to friends of ours and we helped them out by doing them. I don’t think we’ll go into growing ducks as they take a huge amount of time just in the plucking.

No 2 daughter is just like her older sister was and definitely enjoyed getting her hands dirty and helped her dad gutting the birds. They all did a great job and we were really pleased with how easy and clean the roosters ended up and they will definitely be enjoyed in the coming weeks. They may not taste like KFC but I’m sure they will still be okay.

By the end of Saturday we were rather tired so Sunday afternoon was a chance to rest and catch up and prepare for the coming week. We enjoy a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Okay onto our link up…

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up, I hope you enjoyed your visit.

This coming week is another quiet one with school, music and probably a trip to town for groceries.

I have onions to plant in the raised beds this week and I need to get some mending done as well. There’s always plenty of things that need to get done.

We are still working through Hebrews at Church and that is still very enlightening, I’m looking forward to what book our Pastor takes on next.

What’s on your agenda this week???

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #131

Hey everyone, welcome back to a new week at Darling Downs Diaries and our next Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

Where is the year going, it’s half over all ready. I’m thinking back to what has happened over the last six months and what stands out.

On the farm we have been busy making garden beds and planning and planting our orchard. Earlier in the year we harvested what vegetables that grew after a very wet winter and spring. Next spring we are all prepared with our raised beds and growing our kitchen garden in them.

My husband has been busy laying out hay for our permaculture vegetable patch and is looking at getting that finished in the next month or so.  It’s been a dry winter so far so we aren’t under water like we usually are this time of the year, but August is usually our wettest month.

One of the biggest things for us this past 6 months is that we changed churches and we are now going to our another fellowship. We changed because the church we were attending were not standing on scripture and were allowing certain things to be voted on and this just didn’t sit well with us.  As parents we wanted to show our children that it is so important to stand on scripture and not be swayed by the worlds thinking.

This change has challenged us deeply and is strengthening our faith and our resolve to stand on the Word of God. We are making new friends and really re-looking at everything we’ve assumed to be right. It is always good to be challenged to think about what God wants us to be doing.

We’ve also been blessed over the last couple of months with an amazing amount of work for my husband. We truly see God’s hand on our lives and thank Him with a sincere and grateful heart for all He does for us. We are very unworthy recipients of His love.

This past week we had another eisteddfod, this one in Warrnambool. We enjoy this one especially because we get to spend time with some friends down there and our son-in-law, daughter and their children usually come. We finish the night off at our friends house for tea and the children have a great time and we enjoy catching up and the fellowship.

The children’s awards.

The children each received two first placings and both also got other placings as well. Once again they did a great job and our no 2 daughter also got an encouragement award which will help pay for her lessons.

Our son-in-law and his oldest daughter and his new jumper.

I also finished the jumper I was making for our son-in-law and it fit. I’m so happy with how this jumper turned out and he really likes it and that makes me very excited.  I’ve got a new project on the go now and it’s something a bit different for me and a wee bit harder so I’ve got to concentrate when I’m doing it.

I also enjoyed spending some time with our grandson over tea the other night. He was really tired and didn’t feel like having his photo taken. Onto some farm news, I thought I’d include a picture of our saddlebacks. They are really growing and are probably our nicest natured pigs. This past weekend we also had my husband’s Good 2 Great Fathering Course Graduation. We shared a meal and the fathers and their children each did an item. It was a lovely night and it was enjoyed by all.

We also had a luncheon after church today and that is always a good time of fellowship as well. It was nice to get home and chill out for a bit too.

This coming week will be back into school and the continuing of piano practice for the exams in about 4 weeks.  It is technically school holidays here but we’ll be using the time doing school.

I’m hoping to do more planting in our aquaponics system this week and some weeding in the raised beds as well.

What’s on your agenda this week???

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!
