GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #130

Hey there everyone, welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

I’ve had one of those weeks where I don’t remember what I did, it was quiet and homely.

On Monday my husband stayed home and the children helped him plant our new fruit trees. It went so well that they dug up the ones that we planted last year and put them into the new orchard. The orchard is now set up and will be planted as follows:

Apple / Accacia / Another fruit tree or nut tree.

The Accacia is a nitrogen producer so that puts into the soil what the fruit trees need. All the early producing trees are in one area, then the mid to late and then the late. This is all very exciting and there is enough room to plant 500 trees (not that we have near that many yet). My husband will be incorporating an apple library as well. He will be putting in root stock and grafting old varieties onto them. At the moment we really only have a few heritage trees all the rest being new varieties.

On the weekend we were able to pick up the next Lego construction pack and our no 2 son was so excited. This is a Bucket Wheel Excavator and has over 4000 pieces. He was allowed to start it and finished the dump truck very quickly. He’s amazing with his Lego but now he needs to wait for Dad, but he’s really busy work wise at the moment so hopefully they can get started soon.On Monday when they were doing the fruit trees I was able to plant some more seedlings into the nft system of the aquaponics. These seedlings are looking great and are standing up nicely now. I ran out of baskets so I’ll be ordering some more shortly because I have more seedlings. Our Pastor blessed us with some of his excess ones.
Below is one of the seedlings planted a few weeks back and the roots have grown amazingly.
We will be putting in some more nft’s very shortly and growing a lot more of our seedlings this way in the future.

I have been busy knitting and I am nearly finished our son-in-laws jumper and I want to give it to him this coming week, then I’m onto my next project.  I have a bit (fair bit) of mending to do so that will need to fit into my agenda very shortly.

On Saturday my husband and our no 2 son went on their Fathers weekend and they went camping at a hall up in the Grampians. There were 4 other fathers and their children as well. Our no 2 daughter decided that she wanted to stay home and keep me company so we had a girls night in and ate chips and watched a couple of dvds. She’s already been on 2 camps so her dad didn’t think it would be an issue that she stayed home.

Okay, onto our link up…

Thank everyone for taking the time to link up and I hoped you got a chance to look around at someone else’s post and blessed them with an encouraging comment. I really appreciate any comments I get and feel so blessed and encouraged by you all.

This coming week we have the Warrnambool Eisteddfod and our son-in-law, daughter and children will be coming with us. So that’s 2 exciting things at once.

That’s later in the week so we’ll be spending the first half of the week at home practicing and doing school. Then going to the Eisteddfod and also catching up with close friends for tea that night. It is becoming a Warrnambool Eisteddfod day tradition as we catch up each year.

Music lessons are on Friday this week so Saturday we get to sleep in and hopefully on Friday (with the help of our visiting family members) we will be butchering some ducks and roosters. So the following week I will be busy making chicken stock and canning it.

I’m also hoping that we can get to Bible Study this week as my husbands fathers course finished last week. My husband has heaps of work on at the moment so we’ll see how it goes.

What’s on your agenda this week???

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #129e

A warm welcome to you all as we meet together this Monday morning at Good Morning Mondays.

What a nice restful, quiet week I have had, nothing much on and getting back to normal after the last couple of weeks.

Our no 1 son was home last weekend and as usual we really enjoyed his visit and he got to meet his newest niece as well

Our no 1 son and his niece.

Because it was a long weekend here he only left on Monday so it was a bonus to have him around for that bit extra and hear about all that he is doing while he is away.

I also want to show you the amazing birthday cakes that our no 1 daughter and her husband made and decorated for both their sisters birthdays last weekend.

These cakes were amazing and there are 6 cakes in each tower. They had to bring it 150 km to the party and that didn’t happen without incident, but they made it and looked and tasted great. We have some in the freezer for lunches in the coming weeks.

We really didn’t do too much after the weekend until Wednesday and then we got back into school and piano practice. Scales are the order of the day at the moment.

We managed a trip to town on Thursday with my husband and did some groceries and filled the larder again.

Our little chickens have now graduated into the big girl pen out in the vegetable garden area.  They are enjoying the extra room to flap their wings and dig in the grass. We will keep them locked up for a while and then let them roam a bit during the day. They must be locked up at night otherwise the foxes will have a feast of them.As I said last week our fruit trees arrived on Tuesday and my husband had already worked up the area for the new orchard but did a bit more work out there this week. We will be moving our original trees that we got last year out there as well but this weekend we managed to get in all the new trees. We’ve had some cold days but not much rain lately and the sunshine has been just lovely. The vegetables are growing and so is the grass and it’s a nice time of the year at the moment. Hopefully by August it will have gotten wetter but we’ll see.

So all in all a quiet week at home and nothing terribly exciting to report, the weekend was the usual music lessons and church.

Thank you all for stopping by and linking up, I hope you were blessed by your visit.

I’ve got another quiet week coming up and plenty of time for school and piano practice. Next weekend is the Fathers/children camping trip and they are all looking forward to going away together.

I’m excited to get our son-in-laws jumper finished and I’m hoping to spend a bit of time at this during the week.

We are still studying Hebrews at church and it is always such a blessing to have that time with the Lord. I have been thinking a lot on reconciliation and forgiveness even if there is no reconciliation.

There is no getting around it – forgiveness is a very important part (a necessary part) or our Christian life.

How do you deal with forgiveness especially when you aren’t or can’t be reconciled??

Okay my friends what’s on your agenda for next week???? and what have you been up to??

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #128

Welcome back everyone to another Good Morning Mondays Link Up at Darling Downs Diaries.

Wow, we’ve had a great week starting with the Eisteddfods on Monday.

The children did very well and all their hard work for the past 12 months paid off for them. They weren’t always easy wins and the competition was stiffer than last year. They both came away with some firsts and a second each and honourable mentions.

The picture shows them wearing their medals and this was taken late on Tuesday night so they were very tired.
We always tell them it’s not about winning it’s about doing your best and blessing the audience with their performance, so when they don’t win it isn’t a big problem for them. They have good friends that perform with them as well and it’s nice to see them happy for them if they win instead of them.  This is such a great lesson for us all to learn and sometimes it is hard but definitely worth it.

The next eisteddfod is in a couple of weeks and this on will be in Warrnambool. They will play the same pieces and this is all good practice for their exams in August. It’s good to get the adjudicators opinion as well and all this goes together to perfect their pieces.

We had some absolutely awesome pianists play over the two days finishing with the under 16 and open sections and these young people just left us awe struck. It was great for our children to see what happens when you put in and practice.

We’ve had a couple of cold mornings last week and here is our no 2 son with the ice from on top of a puddle on the track. He was amazed at this and it was fun for them to see this. The autumn colours have hung around and I took a picture of this beautiful tree last week at music lessons. The sun was in just the right spot and the colours were just gorgeous.I managed to finish this rag rug for a friends 30th birthday that we celebrated on Saturday.  I really enjoy making these rugs and I also really enjoy giving them.
So on Saturday night we had a bush dance 30th birthday party. We all had a great time and our no 1 son was home for the weekend too. We celebrated our no 2 daughter’s 12 birthday as well, so it was a weekend of celebrations.

It was nice for us all to be together and to catch up on our son’s news and what he has been doing. It’s always nice to have him home even if it is for a short time.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up. Each week this link up is filled with such good ideas and Godly wisdom.

Okay this week it’s back to normal routine, that is the week starts on Tuesday as we’ve got a long weekend holiday here. Normally my husband would work on the Monday but with our son being home it’s nice to get as much time together as possible. He will head back up north on Monday afternoon.

We have our fruit trees arriving on Tuesday so we need to go to town and pick them up. There is over 40 this year and we have moved the orchard and changed things up a bit. I will explain a bit later once we’ve got them planted.

With music exams only 7 weeks away we will be concentrating on our theory work and oral work over the coming weeks as well as keeping our pieces together.

Back to school work too will be in order and just general work as well.

Our raised beds are growing really well and my husband and I need to catch up on some work in the aquaponics system this week too. Some needed pruning and planting to keep the system balanced.

Our pastor has been preaching on Hebrews each week and it has been amazing. I always struggled with the book but he has just opened it up for us. It is our sin that separates us from God but Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, the last sacrifice.  Last week he talked about whether we actually understand what sin is and I guess I’ve been thinking on that a lot this week.

What’s on your agenda for next week???? and what have you been up to??

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #127

Hey there all!! Welcome back to Darling Downs Diaries and our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

After the excitement of our new granddaughter it’s been a almost quieter week.  We celebrated the 3rd birthday of our second granddaughter on Monday evening and it was a lovely night of fun and fellowship.

Here she is with our no 1 daughter – her mum with the delicious birthday cake she made her.

She was a very blessed little girl, receiving presents from grandparents, aunts and uncles. Now she has plenty of paper and pens to draw with and some lovely stickers.

We’ve had some crafty children this week with our no 2 daughter completing the rug she was making for her friend’s birthday. She wove the individual pieces on her loom and then sewed them together. This rug is just lovely and warm and was appreciated by her friend. No 2 son has been busy knitting himself a scarf.  I tried to teach him last year but it didn’t click but he has it now and is keen to get it finished in the hope he might get to go on the ski trip this year. It’s quite good motivation! He’s changed colours again now and has added a yellow and I think green will be next – it will be colourful, that’s for sure.

We haven’t milked as much this week due to my husbands work commitments and the fact that he had to leave extra early most days, we even had to buy a bit of milk to get us through. He milked later in the week though and the two cows gave us almost 40 litres, so I stocked the fridge and made butter. The butter is going well and it’s nice to share it around the family and have some in reserves. The separator that was given to me for my birthday has been such a blessing.

That’s about it for our week, except for piano practice – the first eisteddfod is on Monday. We managed to get some gardening done on Saturday afternoon and all the vegetables are growing well and the snow peas and broad beans are sprouting nicely.

Okay enough about me, onto our link up…

Our top three posts this week were… The Softer Side of Patriotic Decor by Penny’s Vintage Home At Home and Bored by Finding joy in the everydayPerseverance Part 6 – Turn & Face The Changes by Old Things New

Thank you everyone for linking up, you always bring such interesting topics.

This week is Eisteddfod week with us being out all day Monday and the children playing in the morning, afternoon and evening sections. Our no 2 daughter will also be playing on Tuesday night as well. We are all looking forward to it and especially since dad comes and we spend the time together.

I’m not sure yet but I might go up and see our son-in-law, daughter and family this week.  Then we have our no 1 son coming home this weekend and we have a close friends 30th birthday party on Saturday night.

Our no 2 daughter also has her birthday on Saturday so we’ve got a busy weekend coming up. The party will also be a bush dance so we’ll be looking for country gear to wear on the night, and polishing our dancing shoes.  I might just sit and cuddle our newest granddaughter instead though.

What’s on your agenda for next week???? and what have you been up to??

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!
