GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #50

Hi there everyone and welcome to another Good Morning Mondays.

What have you been up to this past week?? Are you fitting everything in or are you floundering around just trying to keep up??

It seems to me we need to keep focussed on the tasks at hand. If those tasks are housework and caring for our family then lets keep our eyes on that, and never let doubt about the job we are doing creep into our thoughts. If God has placed us somewhere then the work that we do is terribly important.

I have had a rather quiet week, and I am trying to be thankful for my position and situation at the moment. Each day passes and I hope that I am achieving what I can.

I completed the invitations for my husband’s 50th birthday party and I will send them out this coming week.

I have been knitting a vest for my son and have done some of that. I also did some book work and helped the children with their school and piano practice.

Our no 2 daughter has been doing a great job managing the kitchen and the meals. There is so much for her to learn and we are all trying to help her keep up. No 1 son has been managing the overall clean up and the clothes washing and he does it with such a good attitude.

We had our Revelation Bible Study on Tuesday night and it was lovely to get back into it. We have such a great group of like minded people who attend.

My husband has borrowed a gopher for me to use around the farm.

BUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS

I am sure there are going to be plenty of races with me and the children on their bikes!!!

Our friend Mr H had a birthday party on Saturday, it was a lovely time and we enjoyed catching up with our friends. Please remember Mr H and his family in your prayers as they are having trouble containing his cancer. He has an amazing outlook and a definite assurance of His salvation, which is such an encouragement.

Okay onto our link up…

I am having some computer problems so I apologise that there are no top three this week.

A big thank you to all of you who linked up, I appreciate your comments and your support.

What’s happening this week for you??

At the moment my week looks quiet and our weekend busy. We are going to visit our son-in-law and daughter and their family on Saturday. We are really looking forward to that.

On Sunday our congregation has been invited to another congregation for worship and then a BBQ lunch. There are lots of people we are hoping to meet up with and it is always good to come together and worship our Lord.

Our message this morning was very good.  Do we just focus on our own problems and do we actually realise how much God loves us and cares for us. Even though a lot of us have issues that doesn’t diminish how much God loves us.  We should stop looking inward and start looking outward.

Definitely food for thought.

What are you doing this week?? I hope and pray that you are all well.

Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”

Blessings to you all my dear friends. xxxx

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #49

Hey there and welcome to another Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

You know the other day someone told me it was only 10 Fridays until Christmas and I was so surprised and I am wondering where all the year has gone. Time seems to be passing so quickly, it’s such a reminder to not waste our time on things that aren’t important and to spend our time doing what God wants us to do.

The past week has gone quickly and I need to often look at my diary to see what we did.

We did go to the specialist in Geelong and I am now in a hinged brace that allows my knee to move. I do have a prayer request and that is if you could please pray for my bones to knit together better. It seems that there is only a little calcification happening and I am not able to weight bear for another 6 weeks.

Otherwise all else is going well, the incisions are healing and I am getting more and more movement in my ankle and knee.

I have done some sewing this week and I am blessed with a sewing machine that has a foot pedal as well as a start and stop button. I am sewing up a raggy quilt for one of our granddaughters and I have the fabric to make our beautiful little grandson one as well.

My husband and children finally got the raspberry canes in and hopefully we will have heaps of lovely, juicy berries next year.

My husband and I are very excited about the aquaponics at the moment and are getting ready to plant some heirloom tomatoes in there this coming week. Our son-in-law and daughter have been growing seedlings and we have asked them to grow some tomatoes for us. They are doing an amazing job with them all too.  I think we are going to put in some Black Russian tomatoes in the aquaponics and then we will also plant heaps of Romas and others outside.

The weather forecast is for a long hot, dry summer so maybe it will be a good tomato year, but we will wait in see. I think the weather people forget that God is in control.

The new fish are settling in well and we haven’t lost any yet either which is great. We also have 100 new little Silver Perch fingerlings which arrived last week so we are slowly building our fish numbers up.

We are also talking about putting in some floating seed raising beds as well, so it is all happening.

The piglets are almost at weaning stage, so they will be advertised shortly. They are really cute but they are starting to wander around the front yard now, digging up our lawn.

My husband and no 2 daughter have been incubating chicken eggs for quite a few weeks and they are doing a great job. We have over 20 chickens in a pen on the lawn and some only a few days old under lights. When the chickens get feathers they go out on the lawn. My husband is hoping for 10 chickens hatching a week. We are going to have heaps of roosters to butcher and can up for the coming months.

We still have a calf to butcher as well and will hopefully get that done in the next few weeks.  The ladies at church and our friends have been wonderful providing meals for us but it could be a while before I am cooking again. We will try and spread out the meals by having BBQ’s when it is warm and then no 2 daughter can do potatoes and salad to go with the meat. No 2 daughter is becoming quite proficient in the kitchen work and is learning heaps.

Spring has definitely sprung and there is heaps happening and heaps to do around the farm. My husband is preparing to put in summer feed for our sheep and cattle and I’m sure he is thinking about cutting the crop and baling it for feed as well, we also have grass hay ready to go as well.

We didn’t have our Revelation study this last week but it is on this coming week, which is great and we are looking forward to it.

I think it will be a quiet week and hopefully I can get a few things done, sewing, knitting and stuff like that.

My husband turns 50 next month so we are planning a BBQ and a party for him at the end of next month which will be fun. We enjoy getting family and friends together.

Thank you to everyone who is praying for me and my family and also thank you for all your lovely, encouraging comments. I pray that you are all well.

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #48

Welcome back to another Good Morning Mondays. We have almost been up and running for a whole year. Wow where did the time go.

In our part of the world we are heading into summer and it has been quite unseasonably warm for early October. We have had a run of warm weather and now it has cooled off again, which is why we enjoy living where we do. We can get days of high temperatures but we are generally guaranteed a cool change and lovely sea breezes to help ease the heat.

I have had a rather quiet week and I must admit I am finding it hard to focus on a task for very long. I am tired and I am not sure if this is medication or just me. I will keep on trying to lengthen my concentration span each day.

I had a physio appointment this past week and she just wanted to check up how my exercises were going and how my scar was healing. The result was that everything is going well.

Our aquaponics system has been in need of more fish and my husband had met a man who catches freshwater eels and fish for a living and had asked if they could spare some fish for our system. His brother finally stopped off this week and gave us 15 odd fresh water fish. We will use these to help add manure to the system and this should really give our vegetables a boost. Hopefully they will live.

My husband took me for a walk around the place in the wheel chair the other night and it was lovely to see how everything is going. The new piglets are growing quickly and we will soon start selling them. I even got wheeled into the aquaponics hot house and the broccoli is huge now and my cauliflower plants are about a foot tall now. So they have gone from 3 inches to 12 inches in about 5 weeks.

We have started music lessons again this week, after school holidays. Both children have moved up a grade and have started new pieces and scales.

It is interesting to be about in a wheel chair and to see how it is when you can’t get into shops or toilets. We went for a drive last week and we couldn’t even get our wheel chair into a disabled toilet, just as well I could wait. This is definitely giving me lots to think about.

One of my friends works with disabled young people and she said the same. She broke her leg and had to be in a wheel chair for 6 weeks and she finally understood how her clients felt when they couldn’t get into shops and cafes.

One of the things I finished before my accident was a vest for my husband.  I was really pleased with how it turned out and I think he really liked it too.DSC_1984[1]We also had some births on the farm and one was a new calf born to our jersey cow. He’s a lovely little bull calf. He is much bigger now and when I can I will get some more photos for you all.DSC_1998[1]

I have spent some time scrapbooking this week. I am endeavouring to do an album for each grandchild to give to them when they are 18 or 21. I think in hindsight this may be a huge undertaking, but I am determined to give it a go.

This week my husband and I are off to the specialist in Geelong to see what we do next with my leg. Our younger two children are staying with good friends which is nice and I am sure they will have a lovely time.

I think our Revelation study is on this week too and I have really missed that, so hopefully we will be able to go.

How are all you going? I hope you are all well.

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #47

Hi there everyone and welcome back to another Good Morning Mondays.

Another week down and another week towards freedom from plaster for me. Sorry I will try and not dwell on it too much but for anyone who has had plaster or anything similar will know how annoying it  can be and our weather is definitely starting to warm up now with summer on the way.

At least I can remove mine and scratch the itchy spots and wash my leg which is such a blessing. I am hoping at the next surgeons visit next month I will be getting a knee and ankle brace instead of the plaster, let’s keep praying – please.

I have had a busy week, you would have thought that being laid up meant that I was bored, well there are definitely a lot of times during the day that I am sick of sitting and would appreciate a lovely stroll around the farm, but I have been blessed by visits from family and friends.

I have a lovely lady who comes and cleans once a week which is wonderful, although she doesn’t have time enough to do everything, the stuff she does really helps and makes me feel so much happier.

On Wednesday our children went to the local Holiday Bible Adventure and had a wonderful time learning about God. They have been so busy looking after me and doing their chores and school work that it was a good time for them to have a break and do something different.  Whilst they were gone I had some friends come and sit with me and we chatted and knitted and crafted and had a lovely time.

On Thursday we caught up with our Son-in-law and daughter and family for some special time together and lots of grandparent hugs with the children.

The newest addition
Friday our Uncle and Aunt from Portland came for a visit and brought us some lovely fish for tea. They are such dear people and we really enjoy their company.

It is so wonderful to have a wheelchair available to us so that I can get out and about and also get to church. I am particularly enjoying the worship side of things and last weeks sermon on prayer was a wonderful reminder of how important it really is.

Our church family has made sure that our freezer is full of food each week and other lovely friends have been contributing as well. I am overwhelmed by everyone’s help and feel so blessed and loved.

I have been working on my jigsaw puzzle and I am slowly getting there, now I probably only have 2,950 pieces to place. I only have about an hour of being able to sit in the chair and concentrate on one thing at a time, so when I am good I blog and puzzle. I hope to get onto some homemade Christmas gifts soon, things that I can do whilst sitting and I have had some ideas floating around my gray matter for a while now.

Okay, enough already, onto our link up.

BROTHER LET ME BE YOUR SERVANT…

Brother, let me be your servant.
Let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I might have the grace
To let you be my servant, too.

We are pilgrims on a journey.
We are brothers on the road.
We are here to help each other
Walk the mile and bear the load.

I will hold the Christ-light for you
In the night time of your fear.
I will hold my hand out to you;
Speak the peace you long to hear.

I will weep when you are weeping.
When you laugh, I’ll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow
Till we’ve seen this journey through.

When we sing to God in heaven,
We shall find such harmony
Born of all we’ve known together
Of Christ’s love and agony.

Brother, let me be your servant.
Let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I might have the grace
To let you be my servant, too.

This song was one of the ones we sang last week at church. It really is amazing how you can sing a song for years and years and I suppose appreciate it but never really understand all the verses until God has you in a place where you need to really HEAR the words.

This song really brought tears to my eyes, especially the first verse. The whole song is a tribute to Christian brotherhood (family) and what we should be to each other and how we should care for each other but the last two lines of the first verse really hit home.

Pray that I might have the grace
To let you be my servant, too.

Oh believe me it is so easy to help people and to be the one who loves to give and care for others but when the boot is on the other foot it is a very humbling experience.

I have really had to think about how I allow people to serve me and actually whether I do so with grace and humility.

To have people filling our freezers and caring for us in various ways is such a blessing, but one that I find difficult.

Not being able to do too much has made me feel like a burden, not only to my most wonderful dear husband and children but to our friends as well. I am not used to being looked after physically and I sometimes feel I could have learnt this lesson somewhat easier, but God knows and God is in control and although at times I wonder “why me”, I know deep down that God’s plans are greatest and He only has good plans for us.

One dear friend sent me a text the other day to encourage me, these were her words:

You are being an agent of blessing to your family (as hard a it is when you are such a giver). You’re allowing them to be blessed by serving. I love the way God works, all upside down. Soak in the blessings!

What wonderful words of encouragement and with the song we sang on Sunday my eyes have been opened to how I allow others to bless me.

I don’t want to inhibit other people when their desire is to care for me and love me in whatever way they can.

I pray, Lord please give me the grace to allow others to serve me, so in turn they can be blessed.
