These yo yo biscuits are a family favourite and I usually make them each Christmas to eat and for gifts.

This year is no different so I thought I share the recipe with you all.

  • 375 grams of butter
  • 375 grams plain flour
  • 125 grams icing sugar
  • 125 grams custard powder

Icing ingredients

  • 125 grams butter
  • 125 grams icing sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

IMG_0595[1]Beat butter and sugar together until combined.

IMG_0596[1]Add plain flour and custard powder.

Mix together carefully -if you put the mixer on too high all the flour will fly out – I learnt this from experience.

Turn out onto a floured bench and knead lightly until smooth.

Roll into balls of equal size and place on a tray covered with baking paper.  Press lightly with a fork.

Bake in a moderate oven about 10 mins.

Place soft butter, icing mix and vanilla essence into mixer and mix, keep adding icing sugar until it is the right consistency.

Pipe icing onto biscuits and join together.

Make sure your butter is a bit soft, but not melted.  If you use melted butter the biscuits wont be as nice.

The icing needs to be quite stiff but still soft enough to put through your piping bag.

I pipe the icing on because I need to do this, but you can just spread it on if you like.

  1. Those look awesome! Here the recipe I have that looks like that are thick sugar cookies. 🙂 They do look like yours when I use my biscuit cutter!

Your recipes look very good!! 🙂

    Have a great day!

    1. Hey there, these are a great recipe and very easy but very buttery, the uncooked mixture tastes nice too (but did give me a headache). Have been at our local show now home for a quick rest and back to it. Thanks for touching base. Blessings
