Our computer is in our lounge room and where I sit I can see our rose bushes in our front garden bed. There is one bloom there at the moment that is beautiful.
As I’m sitting here looking at this rose I am wondering whether I am beautiful.
Now I’m not talking about whether I am beautiful to look at. I am talking about an inner beauty.
Do I reflect God in my life from the inside???
1 Peter 3:4 But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.
It isn’t our outward beauty that shows that the Holy Spirit is working in our lives, we can be glamorous and of great beauty but our hearts can be dead and full of self so that there is no room for the Holy Spirit to dwell.
I am not saying that outwardly beautiful people haven’t got a heart for God I am just saying that it is that which is in our hearts that reflects our true beauty. Are we a temple of the Holy Spirit?
1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
Are we beautiful on the inside??? Are we precious in Gods sight?? I pray that we are, and that God moulds us in His image.
Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand.

Beautiful words to ponder and think upon! I loved the way you compared it to the lovely rose blooming outside your window. God help us to strive for that meek and quiet spirit, which is in His sight, of great price, for truly this is the beauty He seeks to find in us. I appreciate you and your writings and the weekly link-up!
Thank you so much Cheryl for your lovely comment. The appreciation goes both ways. Blessings to you and yours.
Ah, I miss the roses. We’re knee-deep in winter here and it’s hard to imagine all of that beauty lays somewhere just beneath the surface of things, sleeping. I wonder if that isn’t how it is with all of us – beauty hidden, waiting to blossom, whether we know it or not. Thanks for linking with Small Wonder :).
Oh Kelly that is exactly right, thanks for your thoughtful comment. Blessings to you
One of the things that really makes me happy is that God sees me through Jesus, and His sacrifice. I know there is so much that isn’t beautiful in me, things that must be really hideous for God. But because He sees me through Jesus, He sees me perfect, the way I was supposed to be. And the way I will be one day, just like He has promised to us.
What wonderful thoughts Joanna, someday we will be perfect, what a blessing to us all. Thank you for stopping by and for your beautiful comment. God be with you.
Very true…”for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:7
Thanks for sharing at the Art of Home-Making Mondays this week!
Great scripture Jes, thanks for hosting and for your lovely comment. I always enjoy stopping by at your place, I always learn so much. Blessings.
So many good questions to think about here. That’s important for us to do… For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
Thanks Natalie for your comment and for stopping by. It is true we must keep thinking and searching Gods word. Blessings
Thank you so much for this reminder. Always something to be working on. I, too, love the rose analogy.
Thanks Jayne for your lovely comment and for taking the time to stop by. Blessings to you once again.
Inner beauty is far more important than outer beauty. In our society outer beauty is what is most important and although it is important to me to look my best, without taking time in God’s Word each day, there will be nothing worthy on the inside.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment Judith, blessings.
What a very beautiful picture of a rose! I love roses, and what a great reminder to be roses on the inside, beautiful on the inside, where it true matters. Thanks for sharing your heart!
Thanks Miranda for your encouraging and lovely comment, blessings to you and your family.
With Jesus inside, He brings beauty. He is all God’s see. Thanks for the wonderful words and beautiful picture. I love roses too.
Thanks Mary for your kind comment, blessings
Amen! Thank you for the beautiful reminder of what really matters!
Thanks Maria for your encouraging comment. Blessings.
I love how God prompts matters of the heart with His creation. Always something to gather and ponder when we revel in His beauty.
You are so right Jennifer, thanks for your comment today and for taking the time. Blessings
It’s always difficult to take a look at ourselves. And it is always a challenge to strive to become more beautiful on the inside.
You are definitely right Heidi, thank you for your comment and for stopping by. Blessings
I remember my years as an early Christian (I came late to the party as an adult) and I would notice Christian women who I admired and just had this glow about them. It took me a long time to figure out what exactly that was. It was their inner beauty coming forth which is only possible when a person is spirit filled. He makes our true beauty come forth. Great post! Thank you for the reminder! I so want to be that person but am a work in progress.
Thanks for sharing your heart Laura, rest assured we are all works in progress and each day is a journey. Blessings
Lovely thoughts here! Thank you for the encouragement to abide in Christ so we’ll bear the fruit of true loveliness He intends for us. Thanks for linking up at Grace & Truth!
Thank you for your lovely comment Jennifer, blessings.
Great metaphor.
Am I beautiful? I don’t know, but however horrible I have been – or can be, or will be – there is a tiny ember of the divine that God can blow into a warming flame.
Mmm that is true Andrew, we are all unworthy but through Jesus God sees our flame. Thanks for your comment. Blessings
I agree. True beauty always radiates from the inside.
Thanks Lux, Blessings
Definitely some things to think about. Thanks for sharing on the (mis)Adventures Monday. I look forward to you sharing again!
Thanks Mindie, blessings
My oldest daughter (who’s almost 12) and I were just talking about this the other day. There is something about women who live a God filled life who radiate beauty, even if they are not “beautiful” as defined as society dictates. Thanks for linking up at Women With Intention Wednesday, hope to see you back this week!
Thanks Jenny, yes outward beauty will usually fade but the inner beauty that comes from being a child of God will never fail. Thanks for hosting Women with Intention and for your lovely comment. Blessings.
