When our friend had her 60th birthday the other week we were asked to bring a salad or something for sweets. I chose a salad and I really wondered what I would take.

I decided to make a pasta salad using my own sourdough pasta and my daughters home made corn relish made from our own corn.

I made the pasta first (go here to see how to make it) and then I cooled it under cold water.

Once it was cooled I added the jar of corn relish and some home made feta cheese (go here to see how to make this). I fried up some bacon and mixed the whole lot together.

It was delicious and was great heated up the next day as a side to go with our steak.

The pasta is really easy to make and doesn’t really take that long, but you do need to mix it in advance.

You could really add anything you like to this pasta and it is a great base for any salad or casserole.

  1. That’s a lot of work in one little salad–a sure sign it was made with love. Sour dough pasta and corn relish would both be a new thing to me. I’m trying to imagine the taste…

    1. Hey there, it did sound a lot of work but it was easy. I try and make feta cheese once a week (milk yield is a bit low at the moment) so that is usually sitting in the fridge just waiting to be used. The corn relish I didn’t make – my daughter did and it tasted a bit more pickly than relishy. I’ll see if I can get her to put the recipe up on her blog and maybe you could give it a go. I did use a whole bottle so I am going to have to asked for some more – hopefully she has heaps left :-). It did taste good I must admit and I made a heap too so there was lots left over. Blessings

  2. I’m always eager to try new sourdough recipes. I recently found a delicious applesauce spice cake made with sourdough from Carla Emery’s, “Country Living” book. I copied your noodles down and can’t wait to try. Thank-you! How long do they take to boil? Also, I’ve never had corn relish either and would love to see the recipe. What is your daughter’s blog?

    1. Oh Jeannie that cake sounds delicious, I will have to see if I can find the recipe (or maybe you could make it and put up a post :-)). The noodles only take a few minutes to boil so you need to try and not overcook them otherwise they can be a bit tough, and the dough is quite soft so I make mine chunky. I have asked my daughter to do a corn relish post, so hopefully she can get to it soon. Her blog is . Thanks for stopping by and sharing with me. Blessings and have a great week.
