If you read my Good Morning Mondays post this week you would know that my friend and I visited another friend who had just had a baby.
Now when we do this we like to take something for them, maybe a meal or two.
I was a bit short of time and money this week and wondered what to do. I really wanted to take something but I was pretty sure that it wouldn’t really be enough.
I made up some bread dough and made some corn relish (compliments of our daughter) scrolls. I even had to use the last half packet of cream cheese because I didn’t have any other cheese and what is a savory scroll without cheese!!!
They did look good and I packed them into a container to take down.
Now my friend is very gracious and was thankful for everything that we brought them, and I got a very special text message later that evening and I will share some of it with you.
“Hey there beautiful friend, what a lovely treat to have you and (my other friend) and the children visit today. I love you so much and am so grateful to have you as my friend. We have all just enjoyed your scrolls in the car”.
Our friends were heading to family for the weekend and had a 4 hour drive ahead of them before they got there. They have 10 children and would have been busy packing and getting ready and my scrolls were just what they needed for tea to eat on the way.
Sometimes we think that what we have to give is never enough or good enough but this has really made me realise that it isn’t about that. God used what I had given them to make their trip easier and He knew that scrolls were just what they needed.
I am encouraged now to just do it and give and not worry about the circumstances but just let God manage them.
2 Corinthians 9:7 – Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

This is so true…how often have we held back from doing a kind deed or showing love simply because we did not think it was good enough or worthy. I am so thankful you minded God’s prompt and ministered to this family. What a blessing! We should always stay in tune with His voice. He sees the whole picture and knows what the other person needs, even when we think that what we are doing is not sufficient. I LOVED reading this post! God bless you for your obedience to Him. That friend will never forget what you did and how much it relieved and blessed her and her family.
Thank you Cheryl for your comment and it is important to stay in tune with His voice. I am so glad that I was able to something little to me but it meant so much to someone else. Blessings.
What a great reminder to just give! Even when we think it isn’t much it may just be what someone else needs for that moment. Beautiful. ♥
Thanks Nannette, blessings to you and your sweetheart.

Thank you Ann for stopping by and sharing your heart with us and also thank you for linking up. Blessings and it is good to meet you.
So very true! Doing any thing in love is always a blessing, doing nothing because we can’t have it perfect is a lost opportunity… Thank you for sharing this week on the Art of Home-Making Mondays 🙂
Thanks Jes for your thoughtful comment and thank you so much for hosting. Blessings to you and yours.
Yes, thanks for the reminder. Even when we ourselves are overwhelmed with tragedy, we can go ahead and help someone else in some little way, and I aim to keep on trying. You have been very encouraging.
Thank you Annie Kate for your thoughtful comment, we must all aim to keep trying, thank you for stopping by. Blessings
That still, small voice seems to know just what to say and when. 🙂 Oh how often it whispers what I should do, when I *really* would rather do something else.
What are scrolls? I’ve seen a lot of your recipes and they look really tasty, I am going to imagine these are too! 😀
Dear Angie, you are so right, it does whisper.
Scrolls are just bread that is rolled out and then you put savoury or sweet things down the middle, roll and cut up and then bake. I will do a post on some next week. They are tasty too. Thanks for stopping by. Blessings
What a powerful testimony to how the Spirit of the Lord can lead us in even the smallest details of our lives! Amazing to know that God cares right down to making sure your friend didn’t have to worry about snacks in the car! Wonderful story!
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging comment. Blessings to you
I like this reminder. As long as we are led and moved with compassion, our giving will be a blessing.
I learnt a lesson from your story. Your heart is more important than the gifts itself.
Thanks Ifeoma, exactly right our heart is more important. Blessings to you.
I struggle with this as well. Hospitality is not my gift and I don’t feel adequate to provide anything feeling it just wouldn’t be enough or would seem like “left overs”. Or sometimes I just don’t have the time to put into a “thoughtful” gesture.
But I was spurred on when you said, “I am encouraged now to just do it and give and not worry about the circumstances but just let God manage them.”
Thanks so much for sharing!
Oh Karen I am so glad that you have been encouraged and I am thankful that you stopped by and commented. Sometimes it seems just too hard but it is worth the effort for both parties. Have a blessed Easter.
This is also a beautiful reminder of how meaningful and encouraging a note of thanks can be. Thank God for your friend!
Definitely Susan, she blessed me abundantly. Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comment. Blessings
Thanks for the kick in the pants. We often forget that it is not the gift so much as the reason behind it–LOVE. Thank you for sharing.
That’s okay Patricia the kick was for me too. Thanks for stopping by and blessing me with your comment. Have a great Easter. Blessings
This is very true. God multiplies if our hearts are in the right place. I love your, “just do it”.

Thanks Janis for your comment and for hosting. Blessings
“Sometimes we think that what we have to give is never enough or good enough but this has really made me realise that it isn’t about that. God used what I had given them to make their trip easier and He knew that scrolls were just what they needed.” This is so often the case. And this is a beautiful illustration of it! Thank you for sharing. 🙂
Thank you so much Letetia, you are such a blessing to me the way you encourage me, thanks again and blessings.
This is so true! I’ve noticed when I have that “it’s not good enough” voice in my head that usually it’s just what is needed. You will be a feature tomorrow at Women With Intention Wednesdays 🙂
