I bought a pair of sand shoes the other day. I haven’t had sand shoes for ages and decided that I needed a pair to get walking in and they were cheap from ALDI.
I normally wear a pair of Birkenstock scuffs around the house during the summer and nearly everywhere I go so my feet are not used to be confined, unless I am outside in the garden wearing my boots.
You know I talked about wearing my apron in the morning when I first get up and how motivated this makes me feel. If you didn’t read about “When I Wear My Apron” click here.
Well I think I have just found another reasonably cheap motivational product. It’s my sand shoes.
I got up this morning at 5.20 am because we were travelling to view a turkey operation. I don’t normally get up that early, but up I got and got dressed and put on my sand shoes. They felt great. My feet felt cushioned and comfortable and ready to go.
I was amazed at how motivated they made me feel, I felt like going for a walk and getting into my work. If it’s that easy to get going in the morning I am going to wear my sand shoes every day, I’ll put them on before I put on my apron.
I am not a walk around the house in my pj’s type of person. I get up and get dressed, this is the first step in motivating myself to get going.
I am definitely not a morning person but I am trying to turn my days around, early to bed and then early to rise.
These scriptures encourage me also.
Psalm 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Proverbs 31:15 She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants.
I’m all about getting motivated this year, that would be one of my No 1 goals for the year. I am not putting my motivation over my relationship with God, I feel they both work together. If I am motivated to get up and get going in the morning then I have more time for my quiet time, prayer and Bible reading.
I really hope to achieve this goal this year.
What gets you motivated in the morning??? What tools do you use???
I think I have that same pair…
My mornings always go smoother when I’m able to be the first person up and be done with my shower before anyone else gets up. Once the babes are up, you just never know if you’ll get a shower…
(I know you’ll be doing a post on those turkeys, right? 🙂 )
Blessings,
My shoes are a size 8, what about yours 🙂 How old are your babes?? Turkey post coming right up. Blessings xxx
Size 8! I may have to send you a picture of a wild turkey that came in and decided to live with our chickens. They are usually aggressive around here, but this one just follows us around jabbering all the time. You have to just laugh, he’s so cute. And…he’s the only critter around that will take on our biggest rooster. We’ll keep him as long as he stays.
We’ve heard that they can’t cohabitate because if a chicken eats chicken excrement it will die. Maybe it’s because ours have a ton of area they are ok? You’ll have to tell me if the turkey people mentioned that since you’ve got chooks (see, I can be taught 🙂 ).
I think shoe sizes in your world are different to ours 🙂 A size 8 isn’t that big. We don’t have wild turkeys here, that sounds so interesting. We watched a show of the Waltons and they shot turkeys to eat. The owner of the turkey farm did say that they shouldn’t co-habitate with chickens because they can get black head. I need to look that up yet but he also said to put cayenne pepper in their feed and that should stop it. We don’t feed them separately, they get chucked a bucket of grain every morning with the chickens. Will have to research that as well. I am glad you are learning some Australianisms, our chooks would be pleased. Blessings
I have noticed that certain shoes can do that for me also… I will have to check Aldis for “sand shoes”…. not sure what those are or if we will have them here in the states, but they sound great. 🙂
Sand shoes are like runners, gym shoes, sneakers, walking shoes, are any of these familiar??? I keep forgetting that we speak a different language at times. They are so comfortable and get me going. Thank you for your comment, blessings.
Cute shoes! I do agree that starting the morning a bit earlier helps with Bible reading and prayer time! First thing in the morning, I put my running clothes on, then read my Bible, and head out for a run after. Changing out of my sleeping clothes helps me get motivated for the day! Ideally, our toddler wakes up after the run… but that doesn’t happen every day 🙂 Sometimes he’s up earlier and I need to be flexible with the schedule. I love mornings! (unless we don’t sleep the night before… bleh)
Sounds like a great plan Amy, I have plans like that too (except maybe the running :-)) but it is good to be flexible. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it. Blessings
Usually my baby screaming his head off at 5am in the same room as his sleeping brother “motivates” me straight up there so I can get him out before I have 2 cranky, tired boys instead of 1!
Hmmm, I think that would get me out of bed quick too. Thanks for taking the time to comment Jenny, blessings.
A big cup of coffee and my day clothes and a brush through the hair is what it takes for me.
I’m right now 1 out of 3.
The shoes sound great! I’ve not bought anything like that at Aldi’s yet, although I do love to shop there when I can. 🙂
That all sounds like a big kick start to your day. Aldis is great for that stuff, clothing, books, I enjoy their specials. Thanks for your comment. Blessings
Good for you! By God’s grace this year will be a great one 🙂
I need new running shoes…feeling inspired here, lol.
Thanks so much for linking up with us this week on Mom 2 Mom Encouragement Party! Hope you join us again soon 🙂

I hope so Rach. My shoes are a long way off running but hopefully fast walking will be the go :-). Will definitely be over again this week. Blessings and thanks for hosting.
I feel motivated once I’m up and going, but that first hour after I wake up, I just want to snuggle in a blanket and relax. I finally figured out that first hour I’m awake is my perfect prayer time. I’m up. I’m snuggled in. And when I’m done praying, I feel motivated for the day! I tried getting up early to exercise, but I found out prayer is a WAY better option for me in the mornings. : ) Thanks for your words!
Jenni
I feel a bit like that too sometimes, but if I snuggled into a blanket I would fall asleep again :-). Prayer is definitely a great way to start the day, better than anything I believe. Thanks for your comment Jenni, I appreciate you stopping by. Blessings
I am motivated to get up early because it is nice and quiet in the house before everyone wakes up! 😉 I can sip my coffee, read my Bible, and journal and it is such a nice way to start the day. Going to bed early enough helps incredibly–otherwise I just end up sleeping in! Thanks for sharing at Women With Intention…Glad I found your blog! 🙂
Sounds Lovely Jennie, the early to bed is a key to getting up early I think. I am still struggling with that and need to make a real effort to be in bed before 10pm. Thanks for your comments. Blessings
My previous comment did not go through, I think…Let’s try it again.
How did your feet feel at the end of the day? Is there extra cushion in the shoes? The reason I ask is because people with fibromyalgia, like me, need affordable, comfortable shoes. Our feet hurt, so having shoes with support and comfort are a must.
btw…I found your post at Coffee and Conversation link party.
Hi Brandi, maybe I accidentally deleted it – sorry. My felt still felt good although I had a sore bit on my ankle at the back where my sock had slipped down and the shoe had rubbed, but overall they still felt good. They did feel good when I took them off because I am not used to wearing closed in shoes during the summer but they weren’t sore. It is hard to find affordable, comfortable shoes, so I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment and for stopping by. Blessings
I’m working on motivation this year, and so far it has been working pretty good. Everybody has there bad days in there, too. Great post!
Yes bad days happen Robin and I definitely have them 🙂 but every day, is a new one to try better. Thanks for your lovely comment. Blessings to you today as you strive for motivation with me.
Hi there darling downs diaries!
I noticed you linked up several blog posts in the Beloved Brews… thanks for offering your posts for the link up. However, can you please place the Beloved Brews Badge if you’dl ike to join and choose one post? Thanks! The link-up is for kindreds writing in response to the prompts with the Beloved Brews community and not a general linkup for all things wonderful. 😉 I’ll be removing your links for that reason… thanks for understanding. grace and peace,
Bonnie
Thanks Bonnie, sorry about that. All sorted. Blessings
Visiting you from FellowshipFridays! I loved your apron post and this one too! I’m definitely motivated in the morning. The darkness and quiet and looking forward to time with Jesus motivate me to get up! (But unlike you, I don ‘t get dressed. I want to use all the time I can to be in the Word, pray, and then write. I get dressed AFTER everyone else wakes up. 🙂 ) I can see how those shoes would motivate! I wear Birks too!
That all sounds great Betsy, I think whatever suits you is great, thanks for stopping by and sharing with us. Blessings
I have really felt convicted lately, because I go to bed so late and too often miss those opportunities with God first thing in the morning. Perhaps a need a new pair of shoes. Thank you for sharing at The Weekend Brew!
You never know Barbie shoes might help. All the best with trying to get up early, I am still struggling but everyday is a new day and I can try afresh every morning. Thanks for your comment and for stopping by, blessings.
I wish I could go to bed and rise early as well. My erratic schedule just won’t let me. Good for you for trying though. 🙂
Thanks Lux for your supportive and encouraging comment. Blessings to you
I get dressed and always put shoes on first thing to get motivated. 🙂 It really does help me get ready for the day and feel like it’s time to get moving! Thank you for linking up at Women With Intention Wednesdays! I hope to see you again this week!
Thanks Jenny for your comment, Blessings.
