GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hey there everyone, welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

How have you been this week??? Are you enjoying the wet, cold wintry weather or are you enjoying the summer months. We had very cold weather but the days had been beautiful and sunny, that was until Saturday then it turned wet and dreary. That’s winter for us here, it’s either frosty and sunny or cloudy and dark.

I like winter though because I can make soup on my wood stove without using any power. This week I made pumpkin and artichoke and it was delicious and I also made some chicken and corn soup for a meeting at church on Saturday and that was yummy too. I think chicken and corn would be my favourite soup but pumpkin is good too. The addition of the artichokes gave it an additional lovely flavour.

Pumpkin and artichoke soup served with cream and grated cheese.

I had harvested our artichokes a week ago and I got round to scrubbing them and then grating and dehydrating them this week. They are great to use in soups and stews and even blended into a powder they are useful as a thickener.

Grated and dried artichoke.

Our son-in-law, daughter and her family spent Monday with us and they did their school with us. It was nice to have them around and see them and enjoy some fellowship. I’m knitting a cardigan for our eldest granddaughter at the moment and I’ve only got a sleeve and collar to go now. It’s a super chunky yarn so it’s quick to knit up and it will be very warm for her. It’s a nice bright colour too so it’ll add some sparkle to the dark winter days. I’ve got my next project planned and ready to go and this one will be for our youngest granddaughter and then I’ve got some beanies to do and a vest for our grandson.

I’m really enjoying knitting for family and it gives me great pleasure to do so.

My husband had his sleep apnea test this week and it’s proving to be a quite serious issue for him. We are thankful to God that He is leading us to the right people to get this sorted for him. Once he gets his machine they are saying that he will be all good, and he’s looking forward to getting the issue dealt with.

The children had the break up for their Bible Class on Friday night and they had a pizza and movie night. The pizza was delicious and they all had a good time and it was nice to catch up with the other parents as well.

Okay, onto our link up…

Our top three this week were…

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up.

Tomorrow we have the Warrnambool Eisteddfod and the children will be in the piano competition. This one is much more relaxed than the last one and it is a lovely encouraging environment. This will be the last one for the year and it’ll be nice to be finished, then it’s onto exams.

We’ve got our last Marriage Course night this week and then it’s finished. We have learnt so much and we’ve enjoyed it as well.

It’s a quieter week this week and I’m getting together with the ladies to do some Days 4 Girls sewing, and then we’ve got our book group that same day.

I’m hoping to catch up on some school and sort out my sewing room so that I can find things again. It seems to be the room where everything gets put when it doesn’t have a home.

Okay my friends that’s it for this week and I’m looking forward to hearing how you have all been.

Have a great week!!!

On a closing note I’d like to share my favourite scripture with you.

Proverbs 3:56 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.

Blessings my friends xxxx

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hey there everyone, welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

Another week gone by and winter has well and truly arrived. It has been cold, wet and windy here this past week and the wood stove is pumping out the heat. At this moment I’ve got a pot of pumpkin and artichoke soup cooking on it. I really enjoy making soup on our wood stove, it requires so little effort and energy.

To my friends in the Northern Hemisphere, I hope your summer is going well and your vegetables are growing nicely and your enjoying the fruits of your labours.

We had a couple of days at home this week which was nice and we caught up on some rest and housework.

We were able to take the children into the nursing home where my mother-in-law lives and they played their eisteddfod pieces for the residents and our no 2 son sang one of his songs. It was great to see how their music drew in more and more of the people. They had a great time and it blessed us immensely to be able to do it.

We had our training session on Wednesday for the Days for Girls ministry. I talked about this last week and we are making feminine hygiene products for girls overseas who have nothing available to them. It went really well and now we have enough cut out to keep us going for a while.

One of the ladies is sewing the bags that the kit goes in and another lady is sewing up the liners and our no 1 daughter and myself are sewing up the holders. Our no 2 daughter did a great job of cutting the bags out then helping with the children and organising lunch. Overall we had a great day with a bit of competitiveness between us all. Don’t worry – we all get on really well. We hope to get together in a couple weeks and then again during the school holidays.

We had our book club also and we were reading about “our past”. I think it was one of the best discussions we have had yet and everyone felt comfortable to share about their experiences of prayer and God’s grace.

The rest of the week was filled with the normal activities we usually do and also trying to keep warm as it was so cold.

I’m not going to do our top three this week because when the weather is lousy so it our internet. So I apologise for that.

We’ve got our marriage course this next week and we’re nearly finished it with only two more nights to go. This course has been great and we have really hashed some stuff through and learnt a lot. We have become more aware of each other and our needs, if you get a chance to do a course like this I would highly recommend it. This one is The Marriage Course by Nicky and Sila Lee.

We’ve got our ladies mission group at church this week and after our meeting I am giving my testimony. It’s been good to think about how God has been leading me all my life and I’m looking forward to sharing the highlights with the ladies. I am a bit nervous though but they are a great bunch so I should be all right.

The rest of the week is the usual, my husband has his Father’s Course our Bible Study for the children next week will be a movie and pizza night. They are really excited about it and it will definitely be fun for them and we get to socialise with the other parents.

Okay my friends that’s it for this week and I’m looking forward to hearing how you have all been.

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #172

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hey there everyone, welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

What a week we’ve had, it started busy and ended busy but it was great all over.

Last Sunday we celebrated our granddaughters and our no 1 son’s birthdays together and I had managed to finish a cardigan off for our granddaughter. It was in her favourite colours and she really liked it. Every time I’ve seen her since she’s been wearing it, which really blesses me. It was late night finishing it but it was well worth it.We had a great night together with family and extended family, it was chaotic and noisy, but fun.

The eisteddfod started on Monday with the children on the piano for the day. They had a great time and it is always fun for them, and they enjoy it. They did get good results and received a bit of prize money for some sections which is an added bonus. On the Tuesday night our no 2 son did his first singing section, actually it was an accompaniment section and his no 2 sister played the piano. He was really nervous doing the singing but he did a good job and they got 1st place as well.

We managed two days home this week and my motivated amazing husband and our no 2 son planted carrots. They had already worked up the ground and our son went through and flame weeded in front of my husband sowing the seed. I think he’s going to plant some more in a few weeks too.

Our chickens are growing and we now have them for sale as they have started laying. The weather has been so nice with cold mornings and sunny days I think the chickens are confused.

My husband had his usual father’s course on Thursday night and then on Friday afternoon we were out meeting with our friends for Bible reading and then the children had their bible class and then it was the Eisteddfod again that evening.

This time it was singing and our no 2 son did a good job and got an honourable mention and then we were totally blown away when the adjudicator awarded him an encouragement award.  He was so excited and so honoured.

Here he is with his certificate

This award came with some money to help towards his tuition which is always very handy and we are very thankful for it.

Our daughter sang on Saturday morning and although she didn’t receive a placing she did a great job and we were so blessed by her attitude. I think after her first song her father and I were both in tears. They are both now planning for next year’s eisteddfod and the songs they want to sing, which is great considering how nervous they were.

We then had lunch on Saturday with our son-in-law, daughter and their children which is always good and it was nice to sit down and talk after a busy week. Our no 1 daughter had accompanied the children on the piano for their singing and did a great job too.

Sunday was another busy day with the graduation of one of my husbands Good 2 Great Fathers course. We went to a different church and the men were presented with their certificates and prayed for, we then enjoyed lunch together and had the concert. A couple of the acts were really funny and it was enjoyed by all.

Sunday was also our no 2 daughter’s 13 birthday and we are so blessed by her. We don’t have a teenager we have a beautiful young lady in our house who is such a great help to me and does a great job with her chickens and outside stuff. She is growing up so quickly.

Our no 2 son has been away for a few days up north. He is courting a beautiful Christian young lady and he was spending some time with her at a Bible Boot Camp. Life changes very quickly and sometimes my emotions don’t quite keep up and it’s worse if I’m tired.

My husband is almost back to normal, he is still tired but has been back at work and not allowing what happened to keep him down. He’s amazing.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and linking up, I hope you enjoyed your visit.

I would love to say that I’ve got a totally free week this week but it’s not so, all good stuff though.

Monday I’m home – yay – at least until tea time and then we’re joining with family to celebrate a couple of birthdays and then it’s onto our Marriage Course.

Wednesday a few of our church ladies are getting together to learn how to put together Days 4 Girls packs. This is a very worthwhile ministry that some of our ladies are going to take on and do. So many girls in underprivileged countries have no supply of feminine hygiene products so this organisation has started making and supplying them in packs. We are going to be sewing them up and hopefully putting the packs together. We have our training session on Wednesday and then we’re off.

Thursday is book group and we’re up to Strategy 5 – Our Past. I know when we saw that we all went – ugg, but we need to learn to not let satan rob us of our joy because of our past and we need to remember to live in God’s grace and forgiveness.

After that it’s a normal Friday and weekend with Bible class, piano lessons and church. It’ll be nice to get back there this Sunday after being somewhere else today.

Our Marriage Course last week was dealing with forgiveness and it was a great topic to work through and really grasp the need for us to forgive and move on.

Okay my friends that’s it for this week and I’m looking forward to hearing how you have all been.

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #171

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hey there everyone, welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

How has your week been??? Mine has been good and somewhat settling back into normal – whatever that is !!!

Monday night we had our marriage course and that was really good and we even managed a bit of time together for dinner at our local lake before it started. I love just being with my husband like that, just talking and being together.

On Wednesday we were in town most of the day with a doctors appointment, piano and singing lessons. My husband got the all clear from the heart specialist which is such a blessing. There is no explanation really for the pains he had in his chest on that Monday morning but we know that God is in charge and has brought him through them to fight another day. Thank you Lord!!

On a side note:  The whole event has been good for us, though it didn’t feel like it at the time. It has strengthen our marriage and has deepened our love for each other and we have a tremendous feeling of gratitude to God for allowing us more time together.

The children are doing singing this year in the eisteddfod and their older sister is accompanying them so she came in and had lunch with us and then took the children to their lessons. I had a great time with the grandchildren and my friend came and met us for a while as well and it was great to catch up with her.

We haven’t managed to do our Bible study yet but we hope to do that this next week and we’ve been discussing submission so we’ll probably continue with that.  I’ve had friends say that they didn’t want obey in their wedding vows because the Bible doesn’t say that we need to obey our husbands but obey and submission are the same thing. It’s definitely an interesting topic and well worth discussing to see our place in God’s plan.

Some of the “gang”

On Friday our family got together to cut up some sheep for the freezers. We were meant to do a big butchery session a week or so back but when my husband ended up in hospital we postponed it. The sheep will help us along for a while and in a few weeks we will do a steer and some pigs. It’s great just to go to the freezer to get our meat for tea, such a blessing.

Learning knife skills

Our no 1 son is courting a beautiful christian girl and she and her youngest brother were able to come visit us over the weekend. Our no 2 son and her brother are the same age so they had a great time together. We are so blessed by their relationship and thankful to God for their heart to obey Him in all that they do.

Sunday we had a few birthdays to celebrate with two of our granddaughters – one turning 4 and one turning 1 and our no 1 son turning 23. These birthday dinners are just wonderful and the bringing together of the two families is always fun and somewhat crazy. I think there were over 20 of us there this time and our son-in-law and no 1 daughter do a great job of hosting us.

In the garden I have been digging up artichokes and we are enjoying them with our roast potatoes. Actually my husband and I are enjoying them but the children aren’t that keen. The brassicas are growing well and so are the beetroots and lettuces. We are having a very dry winter so far and we’ve had some frosts which have been amazingly cold but the days have been lovely.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up.

This week we finally have the Eisteddfod. After weeks and weeks of practicing this is it. The children have even managed to get their duet together, which has been a long slog. We have a few events and most of them are on Monday which is good but there is singing on various nights as well.

Apart from that there isn’t much on this week. I’ll be trying to keep up with the washing and school work apart from that but after a big weekend and a big Monday we may take Tuesday to get on top of some rest. All good though and the children are excited and ready to go.

Okay my friends that’s it for this week and I’m looking forward to hearing how you have all been.

Have a great week!!!
