GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #147

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there all! and welcome back to our weekly link up. How have you all been?

We’ve had a busy, full and productive week, and it’s nice to get to the weekend and somewhat relax a bit.

Earlier in the week we had singing lessons for the children and because we had our bible study on that night we went to the park and did our school work. It was a lovely afternoon but there was lots happening and it was a bit distracting for the children but we pushed on.

The latter half of the week was the start of our bi-annual butchery session and my husband and our no 1 started with a steer on Wednesday night. That was a big job as it was a big steer but that got it done and then on Thursday, with the help of our son-in-law, they did 6 sheep and a goat. Being able to do this really helps us financially and it is such a blessing.

It was nice to have everyone around our table at meals time again. It’s been a little bit since we’ve been together and we had a great time. Our grandchildren are growing up so quickly and they are so cute. While the family were down they helped my husband get one of our sows on top of one of our raised garden beds. Her job is too dig it over and eat the grass so that we can start planting our spring seeds. She won’t take long to knock it all down and seems very content and happy up there.Earlier in the week we were able to get some capsicum and cucumber seedlings in. They are doing really well and I put some preserving bottles over them to protect them from the cold weather. I’ve removed the bottles now as the days are nice and the sun is warm and I don’t want them to get burned off. We also had some new arrivals on the farm with these beautiful kittens. There is four of them and they have only just opened their eyes, they are so soft and cuddly.Apart from all that we did the usual music lessons and the normal chores around the farm. We have a couple sows ready to farrow any time now and our Highland cow just gave birth to a little heifer which is wonderful. She has only had bull calves since we got her so a heifer is just great and we will be able to breed from her later on.

We have been doing a Bible Study called One to One and it is building us up to sharing our faith and reading our Bible with another person. It’s all about relationships and scripture and the Holy Spirit. It’s quite exciting and we are praying about who God wants us to get together with.

Okay, onto our link up…

We are still having terrible internet issues so once again there won’t be a top three. I apologise for this and hopefully it will be all sorted by next week.

This coming week is equally busy with us cutting up and bagging the meat later in the week. Our no 2 daughter is having a bit of a holiday at her brother-in-law and sister’s house which will be lovely for them all. So it’s just the four of us at home until Thursday.

We have our usual singing lessons and bible study on Tuesday night and we’ll probably go to the park again this week for some school work, hopefully the weather will be lovely again.

This post comes to you hoping that you are well.  Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there all! and welcome back to our weekly link up. How have you all been?

We’re back from our trip away and it was short and quick but we are all pleased that we made the effort to go. The wedding was beautiful and Christ centred which was even better. The young couple looked so happy and excited. What a wonderful journey together they have just begun.

We traveled all day on Friday and took some back roads so that we could stay out of the cities. As we were driving along my husband spotted a wombat on the road so he stopped so we could have a look. The wombat was way too quick for us to photograph but we managed to see his home in the ground and it was huge.  Wombats do a large amount of damage to the farm land where they live, creating big burrows underground. We were only away for a couple of days but our jersey cow decided it was time to feast on our vegetables growing in our raised beds. I must admit this was rather disappointing but that’s the way it goes sometimes. At least now we have a bit more room to plant some new vegetable seedlings. We still have heaps of broad beans coming on (the cow mustn’t like them) so that’s good and she didn’t touch our onions or garlic – even better. This weekend we got out there and tidied it up and planted some new seedlings suitable to spring and summer growing.

We are still attending pottery classes but we will finish up before the end of the year. We’re busy making those last minute items that have been on our mind to give a go. My butter dish has dried up nicely and I’m looking forward to glazing it in a week or two. Now I’m trying a honey pot in the shape of a bee hive, that’ll be interesting to see how that turns out… stayed tuned.Apart from all that we had our usual week, I’ve been busy trying to catch up on my washing and we’ve been getting back into music practice and school work.

We had the usual weekend, of gardening work and my husband is preparing the ground to plant potatoes. We are also in the planning to get more chickens next month and do our bi-annual butchery session next week.

Our no 2 daughter and myself were blessed to be able to attend a women’s meeting this week and hear from a missionary couple who have been in Vanuatu. Their lifestyle is quite different from ours and it’s always good to hear about spreading God’s word around the world.

I’m sorry to say our internet has been terribly slow so I can’t do the top three this week but it should hopefully be back next week. Thank you to you all for taking the time to stop by and link up, I hope you enjoyed your visit.

The first half of this week will be school and the usual work around the place. We are doing a big butchery session at the end of the week to make sure we have enough meat for the summer months.

Our son-in-law, daughter and children will be done for a quick visit and we are all excited about that. They will be back the following week when it’s time to process all the meat.

We have started thinking about Christmas and the gifts we like to give. It is one of my greatest joys – giving to family and friends. What a blessing to be able to give of your handiwork or your farm to bless others. Putting aside whether you agree with Christmas or not the giving of the gifts God has given us is very important and it doesn’t always have to be a thing but it could be an act of service.

I’m planning on sewing the grandchildren some clothes (they have enough toys) and maybe making a felt book or two, so that should be fun to do. We’ll get through this next couple of weeks and then will get into that.

We’ll also be finishing up our school work for the year, our school year runs from January to December. I don’t like to take too long a break during the Christmas/New Year period otherwise it’s so hard to get started again.

We are being challenged to watch our mouths and our attitudes daily and it’s a humbling walk to be teaching our children at home and learning to live in love and patience each day. What a blessing that God forgives us and loves us unconditionally.

God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #145

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there all! and welcome back to our weekly link up. How have you all been?

It’s been a quieter week here, what with no bible study due to school holidays and no music lessons or pottery classes to attend. We probably find it a bit boring really, because we miss the studies and classes. I must admit though it’s nice not to have to be in town really early on Saturday for piano lessons, that sleep in was nice this weekend.

As I said last week our no 1 son came home on Tuesday and it’s really nice to have him back. We enjoy his company and also enjoy hearing about all that he has been up to.

I’ve been harvesting more vegetables and I’m pleased with that head of broccoli. Some of the cauliflowers are still blowing out but they still taste great and we are enjoying them. I’ve been thinking a lot about getting my spinning wheel going again and it’s getting closer each day. Only problem is finding the time and when I’ve got time I’ve got knitting I want to finish. Oh well it’ll happen.A friend has given us a couple of books to read and we started this one with the children but it was a bit too graphic for them. It talks about the natives in Papua New Guinea before the missionaries arrived and then as they arrived. It’s a fascinating book and I’m enjoying it.I haven’t read a full book in ages and I’m on a challenge with our no 1 daughter to finish this before she finishes her book, I’m hopefully winning (not that it’s a competition 😉 more of an encouragement really).

We have been reading another book with the children titled Trials and Triumphs which is a lot of little stories from church history. We are all enjoying this book and it is opening our eyes to what persecution really is.

The weekend was busy what with an 18th birthday party in Warrambool on Saturday night and lunch with friends on Sunday. Fellowship is always good and enjoyable and encouraging. It’s good to catch up with friends that we haven’t seen for a while and hear how God is working in their lives.

Well that was our week, not very exciting I’m sorry. Back to normal next week.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up and supporting our blog.

DUE TO A WEDDING NEXT WEEKEND I WON’T BE ABLE TO DO NEXT WEEK’S LINK UP SO I’LL BE KEEPING THIS ONE OPEN FOR 2 WEEKS, SEE YOU THEN.

As I said, this week is back to normal and our Church is starting a new Bible Study for the next 4 weeks called One to One. It sounds interesting and challenging.

We’ve got a wedding this coming weekend so that’ll be nice so we’ll have music lessons earlier in the week.

We’re preparing our spring vegetable garden area and my husband is getting the ground ready to plant potatoes. It’s still very wet out and hopefully we can get them in earlier this year. My raised beds are drying out but the ground around them is still under water and it’s really boggy. This makes it difficult to get around but it is slowly drying out.

The weather is warming up to and it’s nice for a change but hopefully it won’t happen too quickly. Ha we are never happy with the weather – it’s either too hot or too cold or too wet or too dry…

So I’ll see you all in 2 weeks, there will be no Good Morning Mondays Link Up next week. I’ll be looking forward to hearing how you all are.

God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #144

WELCOME BACK

to our

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS LINK UP

Hi there all! and welcome back to our weekly link up. How have you all been?

As I said last week it is school holidays here but we’ve been pushing on with our school work and music practice. We did do some spring cleaning later in the week which took a day or two and it was good to get it done.

My husband and the children have finally gotten all the fruit tree root stocks planted and it is a good feeling to have that done. It is very wet in the orchard but the early fruiting trees are flowering already, which is exciting. We were asked to get our photo taken for the church directory and I will share it with you. Not to brag but just so you know who I am talking about. The children are growing up quickly and are now 12 and nearly 10.You know how I said last week that there were little cauliflowers in the garden?? well they are big now. A couple blew out but I put them into a cauliflower and potato soup. We enjoyed a bit of it and I’ve put a container in the freezer for when we do our next butchery session at the end of the month. Now that the orchard is planted my husband has moved onto getting our bee hives ready for the arrival of 2 new swarms that we ordered earlier in the year. He and our son have built a shelter for the hives between the orchard and the vegetable patch. This shelter will house 4 hives although only 3 will have bees this year.We have had bees for quite a few years now but work has gotten in the road and with the older children moving around we haven’t been working them. Now that the younger children are interested we’ve decided it’s time to get back to it. Our no 2 son will be helping his dad with this job whilst our no 2 daughter helps with the orchard work. Actually they both help with both jobs so they learn about it all.

We had our curry night on Friday night and it was great. I took a very plain lamb and beef curry but we have an Indian family at church and their curries were just wonderful and the fellowship was as always good.

Saturday night we had some friends who live in Melbourne come for tea. We had an enjoyable evening and the children always enjoy catching up with the children who they haven’t seen since January.

Sunday morning day light savings came in so we lost an hour of sleep. It’s funny how it always feels like more than that and it always feels that you don’t catch up until next April when it goes out. My husband likes it because he can get more things done around the farm after work. My vote is still out…

Sunday was church and fellowship luncheon and once again it was good to gather together with our church family. I must admit it was nice to get home and have a sit down and a rest.

Okay onto our link up…

Our top three this week were…prodigal grace by Beth Willis Miller Faith, Family and the Adoption Journey by Living Our DaysA Weekly Glimpse Into our Home #1 by Redeeming Home

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up, it is always a joy for me and I’m sure to others also.

Well the exciting news for us this week is our no 1 son will be home either Monday or Tuesday. He has been away for 6 months and we have only seen him once in that time so it’ll be good to have him back. He enjoys his time away and we are pleased for him to spread his wings and learn new things. I’m pretty sure he’s looking forward to coming home too.

So, a bit more spring cleaning next week and school work too. I’m hoping to get some help from my husband in the vegetable patch to prepare it for our coming spring plantings. It is still so very wet out there but hopefully it will stop raining long enough to dry out a bit. Our garlic is looking good and I’ve got lettuce ready to pick and use, the beans and snow peas are flowering so hopefully we will be picking them before too long.

Well that’s about it from me, thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!
