GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #126

Hey there everyone, welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

We have had an exciting, amazing and blessed week. On Tuesday we welcomed our newest granddaughter.

Oh what joy she is and so beautiful and cute and cuddly and smells just like a baby should. I apologise if I post too many photos but I just need to share :-).

Here she is with her youngest uncle – our no 2 son.

I was truly blessed to be able to go up with our no 2 daughter and spend a few days helping them and looking after the younger children whilst they went to hospital. It was a true privilege for me to see her in labour at home and be there to talk to her as well. It was definitely a special time for me.

Here she is with my husband and her mum – our no 1 daughter.

I must admit though I was itching to get home and settle back down once they got home from hospital and I know that they were keen to be alone with their family. I haven’t been away for that long since I broke my leg 20 months ago, so you can imagine I wanted to get back home.

So I guess I spent the best part of the week up there and I have come home and started to settle back in again. My husband and no 2 son did a great job at home and they kept everything running quite smoothly.

Last weekend I managed to get our vegetable seedlings planted and they are growing really well.I planted broccoli, cauliflower, cabbages, broad beans, snow peas, lettuces and parsnips. We have covered the bed with netting to keep the chooks out but they don’t seem to be interested in anything there which is good.  My husband is going to get me some hay this week to put down to help keep the weeds at bay. I also have some garlic and herb seedlings to plant this week as well.

My husband managed to get the strawberry seedlings planted as well and they look good too. Some are grown from seed – so they don’t produce runners and some are grown from runners so we should be able to build up the numbers over the next couple of years.

The vegetable seedlings in the aquaponics system are going well too and we have only lost 1 lettuce. Hopefully in a couple of months we’ll be sharing this produce around and enjoying the winter vegetables ourselves. Growing your own food is such a blessing and we love being able to share our produce.
So I guess that was my week, I’m a bit tired now but that’ll soon pass after a couple good nights sleep.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and link up, I hoped you were blessed by your visit.

Well, it’s back to normal this coming week, with school and music practice. There is only 1 week before the Eisteddfod so there’ll be practice to do and mostly it’s tidying up the pieces.

We have our 2nd granddaughters birthday dinner on Monday night so that’ll be great. I finished her blanket last week and I’m just about finished her sock. It’ll be nice to see them all again and have another cuddle with the baby. She’ll be meeting a couple of her other aunts and an uncle for the first time that night, so cuddles will be at a premium.

It is turning cold here now and it looks like being wet for a couple of days so hopefully I can get our garlic and herbs in this week.

What’s on your agenda for next week???? and what have you been up to??

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #125

Hello from Australia and welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up and my usual “what’s been happening” update!

We are still on standby, awaiting the birth of our newest grandchild. I am writing this post a bit early in case we get a call but at the moment it’s the status quo. Please pray for a safe and painless delivery for our no 1 daughter if you can.

We’ve been doing a bit of kitchen re-arranging this week and managed to get this beautiful old kitchen buffet into the kitchen and the cupboards around it moved. I have lost a little bench space but gained more storage for my dehydrated food and a few more cupboards. This is just the beginning and we have a stove to put in and we are thinking of doing a major reno but it’s still in the planning process.

My husband has a few jobs on at the moment and this week he got back to one of our neighbours to fix a tractor. This camel below was his work mate on the day. The neighbour keeps camels because they eat the thistles and he’s certainly not the average farm animal in this area. There are quite a few camels that roam free in outback Australia Our no 2 daughter blessed us this week with a lovely dinner of beef stroganoff, rice, pappadams and yoghurt. It was just delicious and she is starting to do more and more cooking.
On Wednesday we had the morning out and treated ourselves to a lovely breakfast and a bit of shopping in Warrnambool. The children both needed shoes for the Eisteddfod (and other times). We took a drive around the beach area and it was cold, windy and cloudy. Sometimes I think these are the nicest times to visit the water. It was nice to get out and about together and do something different.

I have been making sourdough bread for ages now and I have been using a recipe in the bread machine. I haven’t really been happy with it so I reverted back to my original old recipe where you make a sponge at night and then mix it up in the morning.

The first time I did it, the dough took all afternoon to rise, the second time it only took 2 hours. It is a nice bread, a bit heavy but so delicious. We usually buy a bit of bread for something different now and then.

Part of the raised beds are ready to plant and I manged to get some rhubarb plants and some more herbs to put in. I’m hoping to get these sorted this weekend, if we aren’t called away. Either way it’ll be very soon and it’s good that there is a bit of moisture around to keep the seedlings comfortable in their pots.
I have finished the other rag quilt that I was making for our 2nd granddaughters birthday next week, and I’m onto the sock that I need to finish to make her a pair. I’ll hopefully get that done this weekend. I still have a bit of time before it needs to be gifted so I should get it done.

The children have been keeping up with their piano practice and they are only 3 weeks away from the first Eisteddfod. They sound good and are just perfecting their pieces now. They are both such different children. No 2 son can play all his 6 pieces from memory which is pretty amazing but he does struggle to do his sight ready. No 2 daughter isn’t great at memorizing but her sight reading is really improving.

They both work hard at it and the results are good and we often talk about using this gift/talent to bless others so it was a real pleasure to see them playing for the residents at the local Nursing Home the other day. That’s what it’s all about really.

Thank you for stopping by and linking up everyone, it’s always so good to see you here.

This coming week is most likely much the same as last week. Music, school, waiting for the phone call, preserving.

I am almost through all the apples we picked and should hopefully get them done this week. I now have no 2 daughter keen to learn about preserving so she is going to be a big help.

I want to get the garden planted and do some mending and some baking as well.

What’s on your agenda for next week???? and what have you been up to??

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #124

Welcome back everyone and I hope you enjoy this weeks Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

It’s good that I keep a diary because I get to the end of the week and forget what I’ve been doing, but then life just seems to roll along some times.

We are counting down the days now until we all meet our new grand baby. Our no 1 daughter is due on Monday but we all know that babies come in their own time. We are just prepared to get going when the call comes. I missed out last time because I broke my leg but I’m not planning on doing anything like that EVER again.

I’ve been busy at nights with a gift for the baby and I will hopefully be able to gift it next week and then show you all, but we’ll see. Once I’ve finished that I need to move on to our 2nd granddaughters birthday present. She will be getting a quilt like her sister and I’ve sewn all the squares together now I just have to assemble it all. I also have to make another sock for her too, so she has a pair.

My husband has been busy at his work this week with a couple of big jobs so he hasn’t been around too much but we managed to have a morning together with the children on Thursday which was nice.

We had a beautiful moon this past week and each night was quite light because of it. It was just so bright but unfortunately the photos don’t totally show how nice it was.

On Friday my husband was busy digging and building this dam out the front of our property. He managed to get it all dug out and now he’s lined it and will fill it and tidy up around it. He is looking at it being a place for us to gather and keep cool in and around during the summer. We’ll plant trees around it and it’ll be just lovely. Our sows and the piglets are starting to roam around and we need to get some electric fencing up to contain them. It’s quite fascinating watching them get around and there are 25 little bodies moving en masse  as well.Today is Mother’s Day and I hope all you mothers out there felt the love of your family. I definitely did and the children were busy a few days before. I got a lovely cooked breakfast and some other gifts including this lovely little plant below. I am so blessed.

I love the variety we have on this link up and I want to thank you all for stopping by and sharing your wisdom with us all.

Well the new week is here already and I’ll just keep on with the usual. Lots of piano practice and school. I think my husband is home for a couple of days so there’ll be plenty of outside work happening. Hopefully he’ll be able to finish off the garden beds so that our no 2 daughter and I can get some veg planted.

Hopefully we’ll be heading to our son-in-law and daughters place this week to babysit and meet the new little one, if not then maybe the week after.

I’m struggling with finding time and motivation to write on my marriage series and I apologise again. I had some feedback on my site and it’s sort of made it difficult to write with having to watch what I say and I’m trying to work through that one at the moment.

I will endeavour to get over this bridge and continue on with my writing and I ask for your prayers if you have time.

Thank you all for your support and may God bless you all.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #123

Hi all, how is everything going?? and welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

It’s been a quiet week at home for me except for music lessons but it’s been a busy week for my husband work wise. He’s busy but that is such a blessing.

My husband has been wanting to build a chicken plucker but just hasn’t had the time yet. One of his friends went to a farm clearing sale and bought this for him. It’s not exactly the same as what he was going to build but it’ll do the job just fine. We have a few roosters that are destined to try it out shortly.

Chook plucker

We’ve also been busy milking and separating and making butter. I’ve got a few in the freezer now and want to get a few more. Butter prices have risen so this is saving us buying it.

Two more blocks of butter for the freezer.

I’ve also got some cream on the bench fermenting and then I’ll make it into butter tomorrow. This was a suggestion from someone on Instagram and it sounds quite interesting.

I hadn’t  done any canning this year yet because I’ve mainly been using the dehydrator but I managed to make some tomato and pork hock soup this week and canned it. It’ll be great for lunches this coming winter.

Tomato Soup

My husband got the tractor fixed and has finished filling the raised garden beds. He’s got to add manure and rotary hoe it and then we can start planting. I got some purple garlic in the mail this week so I’ll be planting that first and then some seedlings of broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. There’ll be more to go but I’ve got to order some more seed next week.

Purple garlic.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and linking up.

My husband has a busy few days this week and then I think he has time to do some work around here. So we’ll be busy planting veg and doing some tidying up around the garden.

The children are busy practicing the piano for the Eisteddfod and it’s only a few weeks now.

We also have a new grandbaby due in a weeks time so we’re all very excited about that and I’m looking forward to going and looking after the other children for a couple of days. Our no 2 daughter will come with me to help and the men will stay home.

So another quiet week for me, I still have some apples to bottle up and I’m hoping to try some pickled egg too. I’ve started the other quilt for the next granddaughters birthday at the end of the month so I need to sew that together and also finish a sock for her as well.

School has been going well so we’ll keep on with that too.

Keep on keeping on my friends…

Have a great week!!!
