GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #91

Hey, hey, hey everyone, welcome, it’s so lovely to be back to welcome you to another Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

How has your week been and are you well???

I’m excited to say that we achieved a heap of school this week. Now I know that isn’t that great but it is around here. Some weeks pass that quickly and before you know it you haven’t achieved any book work. I know that there are lots of other important things to do other than that, but it’s definitely good to see some progress towards the end of the text books.

Look at all that cream…

My husband starting milking again this week – yay!!! no more buying milk. I made some cheddar and some feta cheese and it was so nice to get back into it again.  It has been quite a while since I have made cheese, I don’t think I have made any since I broke my leg 12 months ago.

IMG_20160824_102726

I have been making sour dough bread in the past weeks and I have been doing it by hand. It isn’t hard but my no 1 daughter gave me her recipe and I have been making it in the bread machine.  It works great, I use the machine to mix it and then I leave it in there until it rises and then just press the bake button.  I have been grinding wheat to put into it and it is just delicious. It seems to be a lot lighter done this way than doing it by hand.20160825_131132Only trouble with it is it is very moreish, it’s hard to stop eating it :-(.

I’ve had a young man with a bit of asthma and a bad chesty cough so we didn’t go with my husband to his fruit tree grafting course on Saturday. He seems to be prone to this type of thing during the winter months.

It has been cold this past week with a couple of frosts in the morning. The rain has eased somewhat but it is so muddy outside. One of our cows got out and my husband and children went in the 4WD to get it back in and found out how wet it actually was.

20160822_165206I got called in to drive the vehicle as they winched it out. The children thought it was great fun of course.

Okay that’s my week, it’s been quiet but good…

This week coming is another quiet one at home, school, music practice and maybe even a bit of gardening if the weather is fine.

My husband had to move the pigs in the hothouse already as they were under water, but they did a great job of digging up the dirt and spreading the hay around.

Also I want to remind you of our new monthly link up…wisdom search4This months topic is FAITH and I look forward to hearing from you over there.

Also remember you don’t have to link up, but I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section, so stop over if you get the time.

Have a blessed week my friends and may God lead and guide you in your everyday life.

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #90

Hi there everyone and welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up.

On Tuesday morning our No 2 daughter headed off with family for their annual ski trip. This year they went to Falls Creek as the place they had planned didn’t have much snow left.  They stayed in a lovely 2 bedroom house in the village and were able to downhill and cross country ski. She is getting quite proficient and had a blast.

Our son-in-law, daughter and family go as well and our oldest granddaughter who is 3 even got a chance to practice on skis. She did really well for her first time.

Even the youngest was bundled up and enjoyed the trip.

Our daughter and their young son.

Well us at home decided that we would take a day trip to Warrnambool and surrounding areas and we headed down early on Wednesday morning.  We had a great breakfast at a lovely restaurant and then we had a look around town.
20160817_102938We then went to Port Fairy and watched the whales and had a look around. It was a great day out and hard to image how warm it was when our daughter was in the snow about 8 hours away.

It seemed to rain a heap more over the weekend and the mud that was starting to dry up has come back. We have been getting prepared for our spring vegetable garden and my husband has moved this hothouse he made out into the vegetable garden and has put the pigs into it.  They are happily digging it up and fertilizing it at the same time.IMG_20160817_181420In another few weeks we will put plastic on top and move the pigs out and prepare the ground for our early tomato seedlings which our daughter has been growing for us.

Then those pigs will be butchered for more bacon and sausages for the coming summer.

My husband and children headed off over the weekend for their Fathers and children camp with the other men doing the course. There were 5 men and 10 children and they had a great time. They didn’t camp this time due to the weather but they managed to use a holiday home. They cooked on the open fire though, played games and had a sing a long. They all came home tired but happy.

Our son-in-law, daughter and family came down on Saturday afternoon to keep me company. As usual we had a great time and they taught me a new card game called Monopoly. I managed to win a couple of times but they were both just too good for me, and the later it got the harder it became.  Again we had another really late night (early morning), but it was a lot of fun with the addition of deep conversations.

I feel blessed that they were able to come as they had only just got home from their ski trip and were tired to begin with, they are all such a blessing and it was great to see and play with our grandchildren again.  Our oldest granddaughter even calls me grandma now, wow that is exciting.

Okay, that’s our week….

Thank you everyone for stopping by and taking the time to link up. What have you got for us this week??

This week everyone is home again, we will be doing school and back into music practice.

The Answers In Genesis Ark Van is in Hamilton on Wednesday night so we will be going to that and then my husband has his usual Father’s Course on Thursday.

This coming weekend we have a fruit tree grafting course to go to and then a restful Sunday afternoon will be enjoyed by all.

I am still reading Fervent and doing my verse by verse study on Jude and Ephesians. My daughter gave me a great link to an app that will help me in this and I am excited to have a look at that this coming week.

Also a reminder about our monthly link up…

WEDNESDAY WISDOM SEARCHING #3 – FAITH

Welcome to our third ….wisdom search4

This months topic will be on FAITH.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and shared on last months topic of PRAYER.

I must admit that this month has really sneaked up on me and I’m not as prepared as I would have liked, but I am going to have FAITH that you will all understand and forgive me on that one.

FAITH – what does it mean.

The dictionary definition says:

  1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something
  2. strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.

There we go, do we have complete trust in God in every aspect of our lives.  Sometimes it is so hard to trust that everything will be alright.

Finances are a big one for me – when there is not enough coming in to cover what needs to go out. I know that when we pray about it, that God always supplies all that we need. Sometimes it just happens and it slips under our awareness and all of a sudden we realise what God has done for us – again, and again.

Do you remember me asking you for prayer for our good friend Mr H – he has cancer and he is now down to his last treatment, if this experimental one doesn’t work then there isn’t anything more the doctors  can do for him. If you get a chance I know he would appreciate your prayers.

I was talking to his wife about all this and naturally she was very upset. She wasn’t upset about where he was going, they have a strong faith that he will spend eternity in Heaven. She was upset that he was going to be leaving her and her children and she was facing her twilight years without him.

Matthew 9:22 Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has made you well” And instantly the woman was made well.

We spoke about healing and that we both believed that God could heal him, but her statement was “would I want to pray to keep him from Heaven”. Wow I had never thought of it that way.

To me that showed great faith that even if God took her husband she knew that He would also be taking care of her and helping and leading her through possibly the next 30 years without her husband by her side.

It seems to me to be so easy to say I have faith that everything will turn out right, words are so easy, but when the rubber hits the road do we actually believe it.

There is also the faith of believing although we don’t see which leads us to the “doubting Thomas” scriptures.

John 20:29 Jesus said unto him, “Thomas, because thou has seen Me, thou has believed. Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed.

We all know how that story goes, Thomas wouldn’t believe that Jesus had been there unless he saw Him himself. I guess that’s where the saying “I won’t believe it until I see it” comes from.

So where does that leave us, I guess it leaves us blessed, blessed because we believe when we haven’t seen.

Is that how you feel about your faith????

I am looking forward to coming together to discuss FAITH over the next month and I am also looking forward to reading your posts.

Also please don’t be offended if I delete your post if it doesn’t relate to prayer, pop over to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up each week if you have something else you would like to share.

Okay, let’s get to it…

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #89

Hi there all and welcome back to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up. Wow where did that week go, the days seem to be travelling past very quickly.

I have had a quiet week at home and once again this has been nice. We got school done and really focused on it this week. No 2 sons reading is really coming along and no 2 daughter’s math is starting to click.

I was discussing with my husband the other day how a mother who didn’t really get math at school is teaching it to her children. I was more of an english/history/art girl at school and I just didn’t get math, but now I get it. I think maturity really helps with understanding different things.

We went out for tea on Tuesday night and caught up with my husbands sister and her husband. We had a lovely meal and my parents-in-law were there as well. We haven’t seen this sister for 12 months so it was nice to sit down and catch up.
20160809_193523I don’t know about your family, but they can be very interesting. It seems we are all brought up the same, with the same rules, food, schools etc… but we all turn out differently, we are all a mixed bunch.

We had music lessons on Friday night and then my husband went to watch an Internet Cocaine DVD at our church. This was very interesting and if you get a chance to have a look at it, it is on youtube.  Opens yours eyes to screen time and the damage it can do to our children’s minds.

Music lessons went well and the children both have new pieces. They sound lovely but it will be a few weeks yet before they get them sorted.

With music out of the way we got to sleep in Saturday morning and then my husband went fencing, to keep our cattle in and I did some baking for our daughters ski trip. Only trouble when you bake, the family come in for morning tea and eat half of what you have just done, so I had to do some more.  It’s nice to know they like my cooking.

Anzac biscuits.

We had another calf this week, so that makes 2 in total. This ones mother we don’t milk but it is nice to see that we have another heifer to breed from. This one was more Hyland than the last and looks a bit like a teddy bear.

20160809_075049

It has been wet again and all the puddles are back but it isn’t as cold as what it has been in the past weeks which is nice. It won’t be long and we will be having true spring weather.

My husband and children have been busy building a hot house for our first tomatoes which should be ready to go out shortly.  I can’t wait to dry more vegetables. I so enjoy making meals with our own meat and the dried vegetables I did earlier this year. I get a bottle of tomatoes, then chuck in the veggies and there we go we have a meal. It’s even easier if I use a slow cooker.

Thank you everyone for stopping by, it is always a blessing to me and I hope to you.

This coming week our No 2 daughter is off on her ski trip. They leave on Tuesday morning and get back on Friday afternoon. She is very excited and starting to get her gear together.

It will be quiet with her gone but we have a few things on. Tuesday night our bible study starts again, Wednesday night the Answers in Genesis Ark Van is in town and Thursday night my husband has his Fathers Course.

We were hoping to go on a day trip on Wednesday but we will see how that pans out.

We have music practice as usual, need to get back into that. Then on Saturday my husband and the children are off on their trip away with the other men and children from his fathers course. I am home alone, it will be quiet I think, hopefully the animals all behave themselves.

I finished knitting the beanies and scarves for the grandchildren, now I am back on my son’s jumper and I would like to finish it in the next week or so, but we’ll see.

Lots of talk here on our spring garden, I’m wondering what gardening you are talking about right now. Is it harvesting and storing or getting ready to dig up the dirt????

Our next monthly link up will be this Wednesday, boy where did that month go???wisdom search4Our new link up for Wednesday Wisdom Searching will commence on the 17th August, and this months topic is FAITH.

Also remember you don’t have to link up, but I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section, so stop over if you get the time.

GOOD MORNING MONDAYS #88

Welcome back everyone to our Good Morning Mondays Link Up. I hope and pray that you are all well and feeling blessed.

We have had a lovely week, what with piano exams over we have taken a break from practice and focussed on our other school work for once.

We went to Sheepvention on Tuesday and had a lovely time looking around. It was cold and wet at times but there were plenty of tents to look around in and keep warm and dry.

20160802_101726
All ready to go…

Our No 2 daughter bought herself a wrap and she looks just lovely in it, she’s really starting to grow up.

20160802_111912
Our no 2 daughter and her new wrap.

We saw sheep and alpacas and plenty of ladies clothing and different gadgets for different things. I did heaps of walking and wore myself out getting about.

20160802_114155
Plenty to look at.

We had a great day and to top it off we came home and one of our heifers had a calf just before we came home.  This is so exciting, now we can start milking again and making cheese and butter, I can’t wait.  I haven’t made cheese since I broke my leg almost 12 months ago, so I’m looking forward to it. I love giving it away for gifts and sharing it around.

20160806_122213
Our new little heifer calf.

The rest of our week was pretty quiet and as I said we got school done and the usual stuff.

The weather here has a definite spring feel and we are getting excited for the coming season. There is still heaps of water lying around the place but there is a feeling in the air. We are talking about our veggie patch and where we are going to put things.

The children have been enjoying the sunshine and riding their bikes when the weather has been fine. It was a lovely day yesterday and they were out helping dad doing farm work.

Okay enough about my week, onto our link up…

Thank you everyone for stopping by and linking up. I look forward to seeing what you have for us all this week.

I’ve got another week at home this week and I am looking forward to it. I really enjoy having a good home routine. School is on the agenda and we might start on some new scales as well.

I haven’t gotten to read much of Fervent this past week so I am going to try and focus on that as well as my Ephesians study. I managed to get some verses done this past week.

I have been busy knitting beanies for our granddaughters for their annual ski holiday. Our No 2 daughter is busy knitting them matching scarves and we should have them finished this coming week. I am almost finished the second beanie which is good because they go in a weeks time. Our no 2 daughter is going with them again this year, they are going cross country this year instead of downhill.

We will have piano lessons again this coming Saturday and we will be be getting new pieces so then we will be getting back to practice.

What has been happening in your lives lately, and where is God leading you???
